When you're out about in the world, and something causes you to 'fumble' because of your ADD, how do you stop yourself from being defensive?

Right now I'm in orientation for work, and obviously I'm required to learn new things at a pace much faster than I would like it. Now most of the stuff I can go over on my own, but sometimes I'm expected to demonstrate a new skill in front of the teacher like two seconds after it's been shown to me. :eyebrow: :(

I don't know if it's my ADD or what, but I can feel myself getting confused. What's worse is the clear frustration from the teacher getting ****ed off at me because I can't get this one simple thing. :( I want to tell her that it won't come that easy to me, but..

Anyway, how do you deal with it?

I'm straight-up honest. I'll tell my coworker, "I'm getting overwhelmed and I need to take a step back." I don't know if that approach will work during orientation though.

One time I was briefing said coworker on one of my accounts. He started talking about Sprint. I said, "No, we're talking about Verizon right now. I'm not prepared to talk Sprint." I told him later that if I'm focused on one thing I need to stay there. Don't throw me curveballs when I'm not prepared.
