One of the things I am often faced with is situations where I can't learn something quick enough or process the information fast enough for someone's liking. And I can tell by their reaction that they're getting frustrated or they're wondering 'what's going on.'

So what to do? I recently had a situation like this happen to me, and I feel like going to the person and telling them why I couldn't learn something seemingly so simple right away.

Oh yeah, and how do you deal with the aftermath of once again, feeling like a complete idiot? :( I swear it just never seems to end.

I'm straight-up honest about it. I've revealed my struggles to to my coworkers because of our struggles with our son. It's as though people think ADD just goes away once you hit the magic age of 18. Yeah, right!

One time I was talking about one particular cell phone account. My team leader tried to throw me a curve ball, "What about Sprint?"

"No, Don. I'm talking about Verizon right now. I have my Verizon hat on. Let me tackle them first then we'll meet up about Sprint."

I later told Don that in order to be more efficient, I need to hyperfocus on one subject only. It's hard enough when I have people wanting this, that, and the other from me (my job is very in-the-moment, almost to the point of asking "how high?" when told to jump). If I'm working on account maintenance then I have to devote all my attention to that.

Honestly is the best policy...ugh, that's trite but true.

It comes out in the form of thinking out loud with me, usually something like, they don't call it attention deficit disorder for nothing
