I have a hard time seeing the image as anything other than clockwise. The image is three dimensional, and those 3D aspects seem quite obvious as the figure turns. Maybe the point of the test is to see if one is looking at the entire image, or at the specific parts. I don't know.

I've taken other dominance tests that are based on visual clues such as this (such as the left eye/right eye test). I have a feeling that eye dominance, hand dominance, etc. aren't always good indicators of left/right brain dominance, in the particular case that such a theory holds any validity (which I don't think it does... though that's not to say that one area can't be superior to another, and I suppose we would choose based on what we are good at).

She was going anti-clockwize but then I scrolled down went back up and she was going clockwize.

Ohhhh, I could watch that all day trying to make her go A/C. She's going C/W. On the theme of what HIghFuncionting said, my son is right-handed and left eye dominant. I'd like to know how he sees it.

Hi Tracyhaddb, :D :D Glad to see you back!! :D :D

Wow the dancing image changed direction on me so-o-o-o many times I couldn't tell which direction was 1st! :faint: :faint: I also noticed that her pivoting foot looked like it was levitating. LOL!!!!
:D :D :D

Thanks for sharing this with us. :D :D

What's the point? It looks to me like the gif changes direction after X seconds.

My perception is that it spends most of its time rotating counter-clockwise. If the actual gif does change direction, though, I don't see the point.

This is cool! It starts out clockwise, if I follow the raised foot with my eyes (to the left) it changes to anti-clockwise. Then it changes back if I follow it back to the right. I can get it going so the foot swings left-right-left-right if I keep switching the direction of my eyes.

Seems to go along with how to tell if a person is lying by the direction of their eyes - if they're looking left, they're accessing their left brain and facts, so they're telling the truth; if they look right, they're accessing right brain and imagination, so they're lying.

I hope the poor girl isnt getting dizzy! :D

I think she's just playing with us, just like mspen and his daily avatar change. She's actually giggling everytime she faces north, I just know it. She ought to put on some clothes too while she's twirling around CLOCKWISE. :p

I need some chocolate. ;)

LOL..I had fun with it too. I sat here with one daughetr and then hubby, and they insisted it was going in a different direction to what I saw. I also thought it changed automatically, (just as a gif type joke) but when 2 people watch it at the same time, it seems different to both of them :-)

thanks for the welcome back guys :-)
It's nice

it first went cc for me, and i couldnt understand why(i am right brained :-P). but as soon as i was distracted by something, it immediately switched direction. So i tried to purposely distract myself on things but even if i looked away from it, closed my eyes, etc. it was going to clockwise. I think that it is because i wasnt truly distracted... i was closing my eyes, eying the tv, but my focus was still on the image. then i got truly distracted again when my dog came in the room and it switched direction again... pretty cool

Holy cow. I was about to say Anti-CW. I even played the GIF backwards, and sure enough, it would play CW. I stared at it for ages willing to make it go the other way - to see if you could activate the other side of your brain. But, nope. It stayed solidly Anti-CW. I was theorizing about the leading left foot and left hand being responsible for this.

The minute I went, OK, I'll post something on my results. It went 'flick' and went CW. Huh?

I can only surmise, that the whole time I was in 'analysis' mode - very left brain. Then when I went to post, I started to use my right side. I'm not sure what I must do during normal day-to-day activities. Maybe constantly switch between the two sides.

Holy Cow II. Now it's stuck going clockwise and can't do anything about it.

Anti at first and it took awhile for it to go clockwise but it did happen. She would slow down and begin to flip and then all of a sudden...there she was and I couldn't switch back.

She changes direction very much on what I'm doing. While I'm thinking up this post, she is going clockwise. If I sit down to figure out a puzzle, she'll be anti. But, then a curious thing happens after around 5 minutes of working on the puzzle, she'll flip to clockwise. She stays in the clockwise direction pretty much most of the time.

So, try this:
Have it running on your screen, and look away from it
- Do something left brainy, (ie maths, puzzles, crosswords). Then glance at it. Which direction is she moving?
- Do the same thing but with creativity, (ie close your eyes and dream of something). Then glance at it.

Does it change direction? It does for me. Constantly flip/flop, but based on what I'm doing at the time, and if I have to concentrate on anything for a long period she'll flip to clockwise. Interestingly, once she moves in a certain direction I can't change the direction. I can't force a change.

My son came home from his dad. Remember he is right-handed but left eye dominant. Someone here thought that may be why she goes a different way. Wellll, he says she's going CW. Took him a view of only 3/4 of a turn and he was off to make breakfast. Every time I check her out, like clockwork, she's still going CW. Sighhhhhhhhhh...........

I look at her feet she is moving clockwise. I look at her arms and in a few seconds she starts to move counter-clockwise.

Here's another one!

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,22573796-5001021,00.htmlMight be cool for those on meds to see if the meds change you from creative type to logic type...??

If you do not know weather or not the dancer is turning clock wise or counter clock wise you have dyslexia or you have lost your watch again.

To me she seems to be turning both depending upon weather or not I was looking straight at the picture or seeing it from my puerperal.

Hmmm I got the exact same results you did T. Must be a family thing.

At least it didn't have any stinking numbers involved....;)

She was turning counter clockwise for the longest time, but I wanted to see her turn the other way so I "pushed" and got her to turn clockwise. Interesting.

Ug. all I could see was her turning CW, no matter how hard I tried to see her any other way. When I went to the site link posted here by Luke, she was still turning CW. BUT, when I went to read the info on the left side of the colum, as Meadd said, out of my perifery, walah, she FINALLY started going CCW.

It would make sense that ADDers sometimes see it as moving cw sometimes and at other times ccw, because I've read that many ADDers are not highly lateralized. In fact some ADDers are so poorly lateralized that they might be a bit asynchronous in handedness, or maybe left handed but right eyed, etc..

Usually, lateralization is pretty uniform in people... for example, you might be right brained, left handed and left eyed... ADDers often break the mold and some are all over the place in terms of lateralization. I'm left handed, but I use tools with either hand. While I work in science and engineering (left brained) I sometimes like to write poetry (right brained)...... Myself I switch left-right brained a lot but I am left handed, left eyed and have a tendency to be slightly right brained... I suspect that a lot of ADDers are switch-hitters so to speak... :faint:

I agree. I found that she goes CW <-> CCW quite frequently. I seem to bounce back and forth between left and right. Depending on what I'm doing I'll either tackle the issue with my left brain or my right. However, if it involves any long duration thinking I'll automatically switch back to my creative side without warning and bang.... there goes my logic side.

~boots~
10-15-07, 01:37 AM
so, do we all agree now that the gif itself doesn't change direction, our brains think it does??? LOL

I like watching 2 people watch it, and they both insist it is going in a different direction :-)

Yep, the GIF only has 33 frames in it, and it just plays them in a loop.
