Hi all

The doc just prescribed me to take Ritalin LA and Ritalin. How do I know its working? How do you feel?

Most importantly, when does ritalin start working? within minutes?

1st day - Ritalin LA - 10mg , afternoon Ritalin 10 mg (doesn't seem to have much effect on my focus)

2nd time - Ritalin 20mg - focus seems better, but lasts only like less than an hour??!

3rd time - Ritalin 30 mg - focus seems to last longer, around 2 hours. but I felt a bit unmotivated after that.

Another qn, the LA spreads itself over 2 periods, one is immediate, the other half of the pill, when would it start to work? after how many hours?

And is my titration alright? Is it too fast to increase them? Note that I actually don't take them consistently, only during lecture when I have a hard time concentrating. So it's like 1 day, then 3rd day etc..

The burst technology probably works with most people within 3-4 hours, when I took Ritalin LA I was taking two doses of it and I took the 40 mg ones, because anything less than that was worthless. The LA is a good version of Ritalin, better than Concerta, meds are individual with people though, so just keep trying to find the right dose for when you need it, and taking days off or using it as you need shouldn't effect it's effectiveness.

you mean that Ritalin LA actually starts working within 3-4 hours? i thought it would be immediate (less than an hour) and normally when does the 2nd shot of the LA kick in?

i would like to try concerta someday tho.

if you took 40 mg Ritalin LA, that would be 20 and another 20 kicking in later right? i'm thinking of upping to 40mg

You wont be an addict some people take 200 mg per day and the Ritalin LA is two doses and the first burst is in a half hour to an hour and the second one is in 3-4 hours. And back to the addict fear, LA is less addictive apparently. and yes 40 mg equals 20 + 20 in doses
