i like the kamo house and the kensington one.
if i work 40-50 hours a week. can get around $400 - 450 a week, so i can aford rent and food and stuff.
i prefer livng on my own and not flatting with other people. i dont need alchohol or weed temptation etc.
whangerei is an awsum city about 80,000 people which is huge compared to my town of like 200 people - we are all pretty much related to haha.
lots of maori in whangarei too.

Nice Maori, great choices for your first place. I LOOOVVVEEEE house hunting. Just for the fun of it even. Which one are you leaning towards?

Crazy~Feet
10-12-07, 11:07 PM
Wow! You found a few options really fast!

Yea, tell us which one ya like best. :)

maori_boy
10-12-07, 11:22 PM
the kensington house is right in the city, a walk from the shops. Raumanga is a bit far from Whangerei and i have to take buses. Kamo has some shops out that way and I have a cousin who lives there. that mite not necesserily be a good thing at the mo tho. my license got suspended - stupid long story. im not like that anymor tho im a changed man hahaha
i gues u could say im leaing to kensington - its one of the cheaper ones, would be small but has everything u need, washing as well. best thing is that its rite near the city.
what one do u all like?

maori_boy
10-12-07, 11:23 PM
no smoking at kensington as well. a huge motivator for me to stop!

FrazzleDazzle
10-13-07, 11:42 AM
As far as the pics go, the Kamo pad looks intriguing. Small, but it looks to have your own driveway, your own grass, your own separateness. The red-brick one looks like an add on to an already existing, which looks nice too. I hope you don't have much stuff! When I moved last time, my movers embarrassed me they'd never seen a single mom with so much stuff. :o

Nice choices, good research, best of luck, let us know where you settle!

maori_boy
10-13-07, 12:04 PM
its a hard pic. im only leaning towards kensington cuz its so close to the city centre. otherwise would go for the kamo house.
dont have lots and lots probably 2 or 3 boxes full of stuff and 2 boxes of clothes.

I had my job interview and got the job at the supermarket as a produce assistant. its 45 hours for now but can pick up extra shifts if i want. Im like 80c above the minimum wage which is ok for a first full time job.
also looked at some houses and found one i really like. Its $180 a week, 1 bedroom, has a kitchen, bathroom, nicely set out and close to work. i can walk there in 15 minutes.
i cant believe everything is like working out!

10-21-07, 08:22 PM
thanks ay!
well i had my first day at work today. it was just a 3 hour training. It went really well. Its not hard at all. All I have to do is, unpack the fruit and vegetables, wash them and put them out. I worked with two guys today and they were awesome. They both get on really well and I get on well with them too. Some of the funniest and nicest people Ive met. My boss is alright, tho the guys i work with told me he can be a real arsehole. Well thats their opinion, I'l have to wait a bit before I form mine.
They had this song on at work that I hadnt heard in ages, it made my day even better haha. Me and one the guys I work with, Zane, were singing and dancing to it and out the back.
you have to hear it, it was a number one hit here in the 80s

Hey Maori, just read aabout your big decition. well done, takes a lot of guts to move out on your own and start a new. You sound like a guy who could be running the store in a few years if you put your mind to it.
I have a golden rule with drinking, never do it alone. I recon that you become an alcoholic after you get drunk alone. I made that rule for myself, never drink alone.

From another in the better half of the world . . . .

and a better rugby playing nation. . .

Enjoy work, I am almost finished working for today.

maori_boy
10-23-07, 10:20 AM

sorry to jump in here about rugby. dont think Maori would mind.
The worlds best rugby team that is!
South Africa, NZ dissapointed me largely, was betting on playing NZ in the finals.
SA kicks ***** in rugby, not much else we are kicking ***** in at the moment though.

10-23-07, 11:00 AM
Hemi....you better get some sleep today after work.......!

Nothing like having a fussy momma half way across the world!

Perhaps you should start brewing a pot of coffee, isn't it almost time for work?

Wish I could help with the sleep suggestions....I used to take a herb, Valerien Root, not sure if you are able to get that there? It's all natural?

Now....with the Bipolar, I have to take a perscription to sleep...well a perscription period...or there will be no sleeping for days...the nothing but.

But as we talked about...you got a whole lot going on with the move, the "staying clean", the new job..and well the "new friend"....

My suggestion, after work...come home, eat something...don't turn on the computer...and go right to bed....I am sure you won't...but it's a suggestion! LOL

Kia Ora, my new adopted Maori son....

maori_boy
10-23-07, 11:06 AM
South africa had a good draw bro
we had a crap ref. oh no rugby, thats the one thing i truley get emotional about. When NZ lost I was so upset. I stayed in my room that day ay. It still numbs me when i think about losing. haha weird
SA are alright i guess but ABs are the bst ever!!!!!

maori_boy
10-23-07, 11:09 AM
thanks justhope. I start work in 2 hours. I think il just stay awake and sleep real good tonight. I have thursday off work so can sleep all day or do whatever then.
i have no idea how to get valerien root or what it is but will look into it.
il try to go straight to bed but im not sure it will happen, its ok tho because i have the next day off.
I guess it is the fact theres so much going on in my life. Will let u know how today goes.
cheers my american mummy.
thanks

MaNaeSWolf
10-23-07, 11:12 AM
Hehehe. . SA has the scores to prove we are good.

But lets not get into rugby debates.
I am on my way to go gym. Enjoy your sleep, I think, no idea what your time is there.

maori_boy
10-23-07, 11:17 AM
its 4am i have to be at work at 6am on no sleep lol. but im really not tired. a couple of energy drinks and il be fine. i slept like 7 hours yesterday afternoon/night. just crashed at the wrong time.
SA won the cup but the all blacks are football/soccers Brazil. we are the best team til we get to the cup. like we won the trinations and bledisloe and england tours etc. Just the whole world cup thing fails ya no.
im a die hard supporter so maybe a bit biast lol.

maori_boy
10-23-07, 11:18 AM

justhope
10-23-07, 11:19 AM
LOL ...mummy that is so funny....I feel old enough to be one...

Well I can't say much about not sleeping..I can't count how many times I have stayed up and went to work....sounds like you have a plan....

Valerien Root is a all herbal remedy ....so is Melatonin?
I don't know if you have drug stores there that offer herbal items, or vitamens, like here in the states?
If so they would be found there. I know in some places, things such as these are by prescription only....

maori_boy
10-23-07, 11:22 AM
there are health shops, il just check them out ay. i dont want to make staying up this late a habit tho. guess i have to make up some routines and boundaries for myself. I went for like 3 years with no job or anything so pretty much did whatever. Its alot different working, so gotta change my approach kinda thing.

i will defnitely find out about those herbs ay. cheers for the info. mummy lol

maori_boy
10-23-07, 12:20 PM
nah bro, not to me anyways. these days everything offends people. we live in a very PC world. Sometimes its good other times its just dumb. Like banning ball tag at schools cuz it might hurt someone or pretty much closing down all the playgrounds at fast food places cuz parents sue them when their kids get injured etc etc
hmm yeah a lil off topic there.

in other words the cats awesome bro. keep it. maybe send a message to the owner to take it to catty fatty camp lol

i got asked to finish work at 6.30 today instead of 10 which is fine as long as its only a one off. i want lots of hours. Aparently another guy that I work with, Zane had his last week working his old shift from 4-10, so they told me to finish earlier. After 7 theres not much to do in produce ay.
