Take this self-test to find out if you are a Highly Sensitive Person.

I scored 18 out of 27. I know there was a previous post about being hyper-sensitive and thought this website was very informative and interesting. It does not talk about ADHD but just about HSP. After reading about HSP's I'm actually glad that I have ADHD along with it. It allows me to get over things quickly instead of dwelling on things for a long time. That's one positive thing about having a short-term memory. I only spend about an hour dwelling on something instead of 2 weeks. After an hour, it's just too boring to think about anymore and after 2 weeks I can't even remember what all the fuss was.

I have no idea if this will interest anyone but thought I'd throw it on the table.

I did score high (22). I would have liked to have more of a range of choice other than yes/no, but maybe it points to different ways of looking at the experience. To me it looks like an HSP would share qualities with non-hyperactive ADD'ers??

I scored 16. I did the test for all three of my children. My eldest 8yr daughter with ADHD only scored 16 on the child test. My 6yr son with ADHD/Dyspraxia scored 11. Little 2yr 16 as well, I am sure she doesnt have ADHD as well.

I am not sure what that really says about HSP or ADHD, not to mention how much the Dyspraxia affected my sons score.

There seems to be alot of ways of framing this thing out there. Indigo Children, Highly Sensitive, Hunter/gatherers etc. I'm sure there's overlap. I stand somewhere in the middle here. I have an aversion to the purely clinical approach and worry about the effect it has on the way we view ourselves; on the other hand, it's great to feel that there is a concrete problem and ways to address it.

I scored 18. Many of the questions overlap into the "sensory integration" category. I took the "highly sensitive child" quiz for my kids too ... of course, I wasn't surprised by the results. (there should have been a question about throwing tantrums when a thread comes loose in one's clothing!) ;) I'm sure there's a lot of overlap between the HSP traits, ADD traits, and sensory integration disorder traits.... all related to the way we're wired.

I got 18 too, but then I know I'm sensitive, especially to sound. Its my cheif distractor. I have to wear earplugs to go to the movies, thankfully I have long hair so my date doesn't notice :D
I startle so easily too. One thing I was curious about are any of you so sensitive that if you go to a party or noise in a room gets too loud that you "vedge" I get a blank stare kind of thing going.
