Drives my wife nuts. Her family are european and I just don't like anything from their country. It's very difficult to get me to try anything new!

I'm really picky too, I hate alot of textures and flavours. People accuse me of not wanting to eat but I would eat loads if I just liked food! If I had it my way I would have Lasange for the rest of my life.

Not too picky with vegetables and fruit, but really bad with meat, fish, cheeses, and artificial sweeteners. In many restaurants (especially European, Arab, or Japanese), I only like about one or two of the items on the menu. It's not that I don't want to eat, I eat loads at home, but I'm just so very picky. It also seems to be getting worse. You're supposed to like more things when you grow up, but for me it's the other way round. People must hate cooking for me. I don't know if this is connected to add though, maybe people are right and I just cannot deny my peasant roots...

I guess I'm weird... I will eat just about anything that isn't moving. Don't like oysters, tofu, or runny eggs, but will eat them if I am hungry enough. I am more apt to just forget to eat... I have gained weight since I began ritalin, because I remember to pack a lunch!

I don't like asparagas, steak, pork products of any kind (bacon, ham, pork chops), many kinds of apples, regular skittles (I do like smoothie flavored though), and eggs.

I can't remember anymore foods I don't like at the moment, but if I think of anymore I'll post them.

It's not that I'm picky; I just have discriminatory tastes!

Stuff that I used to hate I like now. Stuff I used to love I don't anymore. I like spinach in salads, dips, and (oh, I'm a ho for this stuff) spanikopita. I used to love Nacho CHeese Doritos but I cannot stand the smell now. Yuck! And there's no way I'd eat a chick pea but throw it in grape leaves? I'm so there!

Tastes do evolve but there are exceptions to that rule. To this day I will not eat tomatoes unless they're pureed within an inch of their lives. Lima beans, peas, and brussel sprouts have no place in my world. And I will always love Cheetos!

It seems that there is a higher incidence of sensory issues in ADDers than in non-ADDers (except non-ADDers with sensory disorders, obviously). Often times, these food issues are either smell or texture related (even taste and smell are highly related sense wise if I'm not mistaken, and if I am, then I must be a mutant). So my guess would be yes, to answer the question, without having to resort to flipping shiny objects (because I wouldn't be typing here right now if I were to go off to do that....)

I am very picky, although I have gotten much better it seems in the last year. I've come around to things like sour cream and guacamole (i love mexican food). My biggest problem is with textures of foods. I can't stand to eat things like eggs or tomatoes or onions becuase I dont like the texture. :eyebrow:

Dory: I've just gotten into Taco Bell in the last 3 years. I can go to a real mexican restaurant and not order chicken nuggets there now a days.

I don't know about any mutations but the fact that taste and smell are connected is correct.

Better taste through better smell: the connection between smell receptors and the taste buds is intimate (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0ZRT/is_10_3/ai_n17215978)

The full appreciation of a food relies on both its flavor and which of the four taste categories it falls into--sweet, sour, bitter, or salty. Our taste buds contain special cells that identify the food's taste category. But it's more complicated than that: Flavor is a combination of taste and smell. Cells in the nose, mouth, and throat help interpret different smells and identify flavors. For example, if you have a smell disorder, a candy bar may still taste sweet, but you might not recognize the scent, and therefore flavor, of chocolate

sometime back there was the idea that
artificial food additives -> ADD
however
artificial food additives make it more tasty - take MSglutamate(for insance)

-> back to ->

chicken and eggs

In ADD not additives -> ADD
- instead

degradation of our senses of smell, taste free up real estate in our heads for our mind - and since ADD is an evolution of mind - so we'll need more taste - to taste food - make it more appealing to our dwindling foodoceptors.

So -

NOT additives -> ADD
BUT instead
ADD -> additives

Similarly -
TV -> ADD
is dispelled - as kids with ADD need increased stimulation and so will be predisposed to activities relating to increased information upload into the mind

fast-moving television

... as we get older though - we aren't satisfied by anything but the fastest moving programs - and so require technological advancements in the screen, sound system -
alongside complexity of plot

-to-

engage.

Take anime for instance - speed fantasy - noticed my local comic store is running 'manga' alongside the classic comics -
which have moved on also -

increased abstraction -

Hulk beating up on Bulk
(not a crash diet
- though crash diets are featured in almost every issue)

" - man! oh man!" says the Hulk
"just once -

just *one* issue (start to finish)
- I implore you

(guys!)

I just want one adventure where I can stay (from start to finish)

IN
MY (same set of)
PANTS"

"they're not cheap you know!"

"and nuclear physicists aren't mobile"

"- maybe tutor school kids?"

(just don't make him angry)
(you wouldn't like him when he's angry):eek:

what do you mean you don't know what a soliton is:D ?

-*-

has given way to sophisticated parables on

~ps~

which came first depends on whether the mutation arose somatically or germ-line

germ-line within the (pre-fertilized) germ cells of the chicken -> eggs
somatically - within the chicken (itself)

- the nature of the mutation would help (recessive, dominant, hemizygous) to prove that there is no absolute answer - generalizes to either

chicken or egg?
Ans:
... be more specific or either

-*-

I'm ever so lonely -
where're #2 and #3

I dont eat anything green. The only exceptions to this that I can think of are green apples, green onions, and wasabi. I'll eat any kind of meat, no matter what animal it comes from.

ADHD husband eats pretty much anything. ADHD son is very picky, says he doesn't like it before he even tastes it. If I never made him, he would only eat maybe 5 different things! He won't ever eat eggs, not big on meat, loves all veggies, rice, loves sushi (mainly the raw fish). Will get stuck eating the same thing for lunch for years if I don't "sneak" in something different.

Our taste buds contain special cells that identify the food's taste category. But it's more complicated than that: Flavor is a combination of taste and smell. Cells in the nose, mouth, and throat help interpret different smells and identify flavors.Whenever someone asks me to try something I never eat before, I can tell right away whether I will like it or not based on its smell. My grandmother thinks I'm just lying and that I won't know until I try it. When I have a negative reaction to the smell of a food, I find that it takes horrible. If I have a positive reaction to its smell, then I find it tastes good.

Is that because of what this article points out?
