Our cat Parker was leased trained by my mom. We lived in an apt complex and we didn't want this 20 lbs orange cat wandering about. When we went on vacation Mom and Dad catsat for us. Dad tried walking Parker, let the cat cross the parking lot to sniff some other animal's pee, then tried to pull him away from said pee. Parker went ballistic, whaling around and sinking his teeth into Dad's hand, the webbing between the thumb and index finger. Mom had to run Dad to the ER and he had a week's worth of antibiotic shots. Mom said Parker seemed contrite afterwards and was angry with my father for letting the cat lead the way.

Parker was one of a kind...he passed away in July 1994 after a bout with feline leukemia. He knew no enemies, not even my dad.

I have to say I absolutely LOVE cats...they rule this world and it would be devastating if cats weren't on this earth...that's not to say I don't like dogs though..they're cute too.

On a very serious note...cats should never ever be placed on a leash of any kind..it is not natural for them as they are freedom lovers.

ha, my old neighbor, would rollerskate w/his dog.. . his dog did seem to like it, at least to a degree, as it was the one pulling him, AND HE DIDN'T EVEN USE A WHIP OR ANYTHING, haha!

Wow. That's surprising. My mom would always say the difference between cats and dogs is a dog will come when you call, a cat will take a message and get back to you. What's really funny is when my son tries o treat the cat like he's a dog (fetch, calling for him, etc). The look the cats gives him is just too funny.

Our cat Nick comes when he's called. He's a *****, I swear. He gets Quality Time with Daddy in the mornings, with Mommy at night. He's big, fat, orange, and 20+ lbs. Oy!

Lady learned all the dogie tricks except fetch. No matter how hard the girls and I tried to teach her when she was a puppy she simply didn't not grasp the fetch concept. For some reason when you threw a ball or other object in one direction she insisted on going the opposite direction.

Gary got some notion he would teach Lady to fetch. Four years later Lady Dog still won't fetch but the cat Mr. Mischief learned pretty quickly. So in my neurodiverse house hold. . . .

They don't know they're on the same piece of furniture. This doesn't happen often. I was lying on the couch reading with the dog curled up beside me. The cat came along and settled on my other side. When I got up, they stayed there.
