Hello
I'm new here. I've recently been prescribed ritalin for my ADD (I was diagnosed when I was about 13 but its been neglected). I have been very cautious to taking my ritalin to the point that I've been taking half of my recommended dose. Im supposed to take 10-20 mili (slowly work my way up till I feel it working). However, I'm a week and a half into it and can only get myself to about 5-7 mili (i cut the pill in half).
SO My problem is:

I'm really tired and I need to stay awake and study and I decided to take about 7 mili an hour ago (9:30ish). I only felt a difference for like 20 minutes and now I'm back to being exhausted and still in need of completely work. What do I do? Should I take another 5? I'm supposed to be taking about 10 more usually but I dont know if its alright to take 5 mili an hour after taking 7. MY QUESTION : Is it ok to take another dose an hour after if you didnt feel anything from first dose??
PLEASE RESPOND. It is so important

First, welcome to the forum Norwegian. :)

The only thing I know for sure is to take your meds as perscribed. If you miss a dose, follow the instructions on the information the pharmacist gave you.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful than that.

Yeah welcome to ADDForums, the best thing is to probably take them as prescribed to get the optimal results

Best thing to do is to take it as prescribed. When I first started taking ritalin, it would make me tired too, but as my body adjusted that went away.

When you have adhd stimulants often have a sedating effect. Myself I often feel like taking a nap after a cup of coffee.... so don't rely on stimulants to keep you awake. By the time you take that much you have possibly taken too much.

Take the meds as prescribed by the doctor. IF you take too little it will be of no benefit and if you make the mistake of thinking that you must "feel" an effect other than being more focused, you run the risk of taking too much.

Ideally all it is supposed to do is to reduce hyperactivity and make you more focused. That little "buzz" that you feel when you first start taking it goes away after you have been taking it a while, but the ability to focus should remain.

TAKE THE MEDS AS PRESCRIBED
