Hi guys

I know one of the side effect of ritalin is that it makes u feel very full and not feel like eating.

I have been feeling the effect after taking ritalin. The thing is I still force myself to eat normally even though I feel very stuffed cos of ritalin. Is this ok? Cos I'm just eating the normal portions as if before ritalin, just that now I need to stuff it in.

I'm ok with it I guess. Just takes more time to finish the food.

Another problem is feeling like crap after the power-focus. I took 40mg today. Lasted almost 4 hours I guess. Is it ok if I take Ritalin LA 40mg (= 80 mg total) ? so that I can last longer cos lessons usually end quite late?

Any advice?

you can take more than one dose a day, messy matthew (my name is Matt so I like the name) try taking another one in 3.5 hours to last if you need it. Appetite loss and possible weight loss are universal in stimulants, health shakes are efficient if meals are hard

Hey, nice to meet another matt!

Is 80mg too much ? cos i heard the max recommended is 60mg?

Regarding appetite loss, it is ok to just stuff food in right? it's just a phony feeling caused by the ritalin right?

thanks again!

I took 160 mg of the LA and that was okay with the doctor, at age 4 I was on 120 mg per day so the PDR isn't exactly helpful for people who need high doses of stimulants.

Hi messy_mathew,

Yes definitely eat and try to make sure you are getting enough nutrition and fuel for your brain!! I had to force myself to eat when I first started taking ritalin. But if I didn't eat, the medication was near useless (plus I was cranky!!). It felt uncomfortable and like I shouldn't be eating...but I made myself eat anyway.

Now...after a couple of months, the effects of ritalin on my appetite are gone and things are back to normal.

Good luck and keep us updated. :)
