For those of you who have been taking it for a month or more, have you noticed any weight loss? I've been taking it for 3 mths and have lost between 10-15 lbs. I'm not complaining but I really can't afford to lose anymore. I'm wanting to know if the loss tapers off. If so, will it/can it be gained back if the med is discontinued? I have to buy some new clothes because what I do own is falling off me. I need to know how much I should purchase. If I'm going to maintain this weight for a while, I can see buying more than not.

By far, after taking Adderall & Daytrana, Vyvanse works the best for me.

Thanks,
Bellastar

I experienced loss of appetite with Adderall (1 month last spring) and now Vyvanse (10 days). I am losing but welcome that side effect for now. I am eating anyway b/c I don't want lack of nutrition to cause symptoms that might make Vyvanse work less effectively or "too" effectively. If I'm light headed or tired, I don't want to wonder if it's b/c I didn't eat all day or if it's due to the Vyvanse. What I'm not eating is junk and snacks, since I have no desire, so that is probably where the weight loss is coming from.

Are you eating 3 healthy meals a day and still losing or are you skipping eating b/c you have no appetite? I haven't found it impossible to eat with no appetite, like one might when sick.

I have read on hear that the loss of appetite does go away eventually. Hopefully I will have lost what I'd like to by then and can at least work on maintaining when my appetite for junk resumes. I'm sure the weight would come back on if your loss is due to no appetite and that side effect goes away.

If you are eating as usual, haven't felt the "no appetite" symptom, and your body just lost due to the drug, you might want to mention it to your dr.

Maybe buy one or two staples (jeans and khakis) for now in the smaller size until you see how it goes.

Since I have been taking Vyvance there have been a couple of days when I haven't bothered to get lunch - just kept working. I thought that it was just because I was so focused. Maybe it is loss of appetite. I haven't really analyzed it. I will definitely be more aware of it now though.

Thanks KitKat and Tomato for your replies.

I've never been one to sit down to three meals a day. I'm more of a grazer, eat when I'm hungry. With that said, I still manage at least two meals a day. For instance, I never miss breakfast. Fortunately, I've never had to worry about my weight. Every morning I have four pieces of toast with jelly and cream cheese. Yummy! I've been known before the Vyvanse to skip lunch and have a late afternoon meal. During the day, I usually munch on Dove dark chocolate.

Today, I've already had the toast, the dark chocolate and a Chick Fil A Grilled Chicken Garden Salad. I probably will eat something later today. With all of that, I still have lost 10-15 lbs. And it's only since I started the Vyvanse. I have an appt with my MD next week. If there is any new information that he provides me, I'll be sure to share it with all of you.

Thanks,

I haven't taken Vyvanse that long... only my 4th day. I welcome weight loss as a side effect (disclaimer, that's not why I'm taking it though). With me I generally don't eat breakfast or lunch and end up so hungry late in the afternoon or at dinner time and make poor food choices. I'm hoping that with better ADHD control I'll be able to make better choices or at least eat breakfast and dinner like I should.

I've been taking Vyvanse since September 26th 2007...I've lost 21lbs in that time.

Drugs.com reports among the side effects: decreased appetite (39%) and weight loss (9%). So that means that about 4 out of every 10 patients will experience decreased appetite and 1 out of 10 will have some weight loss.

About 20lbs in 2.5 months. I eat breakfast and a small dinner, but not really interested in lunch, it seems. I just don't get hungry and don't wanna be bothered with lunch! WHen I do eat, I tend to get full faster.

I'm lovin it.

I lost 10lbs in 1 1/2 weeks but I'm extremely physically active. I guess the exercise + Vyvanse stacked on weight loss. But now I'm on 60mg Adderall XR again for the time being and I've gained about 4-5 lbs back :P
