When my ADHD/BiPolar condition doesn't get in my way I do freelance writing. Several months back I was contracted to write two articles. I worked very hard on them and it was during a very rough time. I finished a week before deadline and was proud of myself. A week after the issue was out I found out they didn't use one of my articles and figured there was no bother to tell me about it. I was a bit upset, but they assured me it would be in the October issue. Well, I had a bad feeling yesterday and reached out to the magazine....and can you see this coming from a mile away.....they did it to me again. They didn't print my article and didn't think that they needed to tell me. I will never write for them again. I was professional enough to keep that to myself along with the other colorful adjectives I was thinking of.

I am ticked off  and just needed to blow this off somewhere...so thanks...

No problem, there's nothing worse than to be on the receiving end of screwy company politics. I was jipped out of a commision hike for a short period of time and still never got reimbursed for the loss (amounted to close to $500.00). I even got them to admit that they were wrong for not doing it. I mean, how I see it is that I am a person, who is such a cheapskate that I don't own any of these expensive (yet awesome quality) knives that I con these people into buying, and I sell a lot of them, to some real snobs who I also suck up small talk with and I cannot even get reimbursed for money I lost over an error they made, talk about rage.

Congratulations for getting them done a week before deadline!

What was the payment setup, and were the articles commissioned, or did you write the articles on spec? Did you have a contract of any sort with this publisher? Sometimes it's set up so that when you do all the work but they don't need the article (which happens quite often) the writer gets a partial fee or a "kill fee". I would be interested if you want to write me privately and let me know what the situation was.

It says in the contract that I only get paid if it gets published. I will never use them again. On the positive side I just found out I am having an article published in San Diego Family magazine.

The nerve of some people (or companies). They treat people like garbage. I would have been just as ****ed!
