I've been on Adderall for about 31/2 years now. I started taking more than prescribed about one year ago...and though the drug helps me, I'm wondering what's up with that? It's not the kind of medication that gives me euphoria, should I talk with my Doctor (who I have some doubts about by the way...I could always get opinion#2) about a different add med? While Adderall helps, have I just been on it for too long ? Would LOVE feedback from experienced folks or experts on the matter.... Mary 04-09-04, 09:24 PM My daughter takes Adderall except on weekends and vacations. This last week was not very good while she's been off her meds. MrsBulldog720 04-11-04, 10:57 PM I take Adderall, so far it's the best (for me) of any meds I have tryed...(ritalin, cylert, straterra) plus many many more... Cylert worked well for a while. badkat 04-12-04, 07:24 AM My son is 9yrs old and on Adderall XR - this has been the best for him so far...he was on Ritalin, which was taken 2x's a day, then we tried Straterra---made him a zombie!!! We were also on Concerta for quite a while and thought is was doing really well...until we decided it was time for a change and for us this is even better. He eats better, sleeps well and has less of a "coming off" stage!! Michelle runner 04-12-04, 03:55 PM Iwas on reg. release Adderall for 1 year, then moved to XR (Extended Release) version for 2+. Did seem to help ADD somewhat, but positive effect lessened over time. However, I found that Adderall made an addiction/compulsion problem I had much worse. I seemed to 'hyper-focus' on a 'less-than-healthy' aspect of my life. Doc said that she had seen similiar 'obsessions' worsten with Adderall. Due to this, my dosage was reduced, and the obsessive thoughts & actions appeared to abate somewhat. I then switched to Strattera, which helped, but it was much too expensive, so I dropped all meds for past 8 months. Now starting Wellbutrin XR solo. Going to see how it goes. Good luck with Adderall! Brianne 04-28-04, 11:33 PM I take Adderall Xr 20 mg. I was on just plain Adderall 20 mg 3 1/2 years but started noticing it would wear off to soon when I got out of college and my days went from 4 hour days at school to 8 hour work days. I like it myself I have trouble sleeping sometimes but that being the only real down fall for me using it I deal with it best I can. If it gets tp where I miss too much sleep too many nights in a row then I just take a sleep aid. |
