View Full Version : Thinking of preparing to take a HUGE step in life.
Crazygirl79 10-21-07, 09:42 PM Hey Everyone...:)
As some of you know I'm doing a vocational course in Pharmacy Retail, this is only the stepping stone to something even better!
For years I've wanted to travel around, see and experience new things and getting a job will certainly help towards that, now I've really made myself motivated to do a ESL Tutoring Certificate (ESL stands for English Second Language) and if I want to teach English in places like China, Thailand, Vietnam or any of the Latin American countries I don't need a university degree...yes I've looked thoroughly into this! besides my spoken and written english abilities are considered to be above average and this should help me along too.
I'm making serious plans on going to Mexico towards the end of next year but a few things have to be organised such as passport, visas, finances etc etc but I know with enough determination I can do it!!:D
For all you ADDF members in the USA, Canada or South American...I may just drop in during my travels...so if anyone's up for meet then great but otherwise It'll be happy travelling for me:D
I'll suggest a great website for those with serious travelling ambitions www.lonelyplanet.com (http://www.lonelyplanet.com)
Selena:)
maori_boy 10-21-07, 09:51 PM WOW awesome. what an experience that will be. Thats a great idea to travel and work and get paid at the same time. Goood on ya.
Are you going to see the Mayan ruins and Macchu Picchu (sorry watching too much movies - Apocalypto)
all the best ay. i checked out the website too. Lots of info there ay.
:)
thats awesome, my brother is going to Czeck republic in a few weeks/months through an ESL program, i want to do it myself, but I want to learn the language of the locals before I get there, make my job easier
~boots~ 10-22-07, 03:17 AM wow...that's a great plan :-)
I hope it comes together
MaNaeSWolf 10-22-07, 04:53 AM Traveling is always great, I just came back from 3 weeks in Turkey, plus I have done a bit of traveling in my life. It really helps to give you a perspective on life and what is really going on in the world.
All the best to you.
Crazygirl79 10-26-07, 04:26 AM With determination...it will come together!:) wow...that's a great plan :-)
I hope it comes together

Crazygirl79 10-26-07, 04:40 AM Thanks maori_boy!!!

Selena:)
NonSequitur 10-26-07, 12:19 PM Very cool - go for it!!!
I'd love to travel more if there wasn't so much 'work' involved! *lol*
That's awesome! I wish you lots of luck!!!
QueensU_girl 10-27-07, 12:48 AM I'd really research it. I know that in most places you do need a BA or something in edition to the TESL or BEducation.
At Heart 10-27-07, 07:25 PM I wish you the best of luck Crazygirl, because determination and goals are the best way to get anywhere in life. Let us know if you encounter any roadblocks...
I have plans to travel in the future - but mostly over the USA - as a Travel RN...would love to work in Alaska, or Hawaaii, or even Texas just to give me some different perspective from the small town NY I live in...
QueensU_girl 10-27-07, 08:43 PM The Title of this Thread is so inspiring that I rated it "high".
Yesterday I read that 80% of people's "regrets" when polled are not for "things they've done", but rather for "things they didn't do/held back from".
You go, Crazy Girl!
Crazygirl79 10-30-07, 04:12 AM Hey QueensU_girl and Everyone else:)
I've researched this course and while a university degree of any discipline is required to teach in countries such as the Middle East, Japan, Korea, Western Europe and Taiwan a uni degree isn't necessarily needed to teach in countries such as Vietnam, China, Thailand or any of the Eastern European or Latin American countries including the more "affluent" places like Mexico and Costa Rica, however my spoken English needs to be very good which is it (English is my primary language despite my Western European background) then I shall have very little trouble getting accepted into this course.
The school is well known in Australia and offers internationally recognised qualifications, this school also helps you with the job search side of things....but in Latin America I'm basically on my own as the schools there generally don't advertise their jobs on the internet...trust me to want to do it the hard way...lol:p
The course itself is going to cost me $1995AUD...this however shouldn't be hard to save up though as I have a good chance of getting a job in one of the chemist after graduating from the phamacy retail course!
I've always been a bit of a risk taker but it seems I'm stepping it up so to speak....mind you I haven't shared this plan with my mother yet.... she either call me a dreamer or perhaps just tell me to be careful since I proved her wrong about not leaving Brisbane:cool: (Yes she said I'd never leave my home city of Brisbane and suddenly I just did....a few months ago and didn't tell her until I got to my destination)
So I guess I'll just do things to make my dreams a reality.....this ADDer is taking the dream thing a step further and believe me it takes a lot of courage and conviction to make a dream so big actually happen.
Selena:)

maori_boy 10-30-07, 06:49 AM hows the planning going?
Crazygirl79 11-01-07, 02:38 AM maori_boy:)
I'm still in the midst of my pharmacy retail course, then after that it will be serious job hunting if I don't get a job from the place I do my industry placement at....then the hardest task comes...SAVING $$$$ which is something I'm not the best at and this will test me to no end.
This other course usually takes 3 to 6 months as it's intensive...pretty much like the course I'm doing now and I intend to do that just a few months before I leave.
As I said I guess I have to make this happen otherwise I will have too many regrets when I kick the bucket so to speak...lol:p
Selena:) hows the planning going?
