TY for this article,,,I printed it and plan to take it with me when I meet with the school board. Since my son was diagnosed with ADHD we completly changed the way we eat. Watching ingredients and preservative's much closer and making most of our food ourselves. We noticed behaviour's improved greatly the less caffeine the children ingested.

When we approached the school board about their meal program for our kid's we were told that they would not/could not make special diets for the children since this is NOT a medical illness (ummmm ok ). So, we improvised providing the caffateria with alternative drinks (juice, etc.) and alternative deserts so when chocolate was on the menu they would not miss out. Problem being the lady who dispense's the lunch does not agree and think's we are just being mean to our children, so she let's them have what they will often times letting Dakota have second's; because, the poor dear's parents won't let him have it. Leading to increased calls to the school about bad behaviour's. Hopefully reading this article will convince them that sometime's the parent's do know what is best.

good luck to you... i hope your "well-meaning" cafeteria lady gets a copy. Seems to me she is undermining your authority as a parent, and she should be told in no uncertain terms. What if your child had a severe allergy to chocolate and she did the same thing? That would amount to something akin to child abuse.... some people....

OOOoooOOOO please trust me I will inform her of this myself. All too often the middle man leaves important information out.

OK at the school board meeting I asked that everyone including the lady who run's the cafeteria be present. She was unbending and we seemed to be getting no were; but, luckily Tara gave me some very good anger management hints in my coaching post. So, I asked for a recess and approached her privatly and reminded her that last summer when she broke her hip and we baked for her WE took into account her special dietary needs. Thing's changed direction from there and I am pleased to report she is adherring to the children's diet from now on. WOOHOOO and God bless tAra
