Okay so my medication isn't working as well as it should the past couple of days and this is the first time I've spoken up and said look I'm having trouble staying focused today, if there is anytime I could do something different it would be greatly appreciated. A little background about my job...I sit at a computer all day and index images into claim numbers...pretty boring even if you don't have ADHD. Well...he goes to the persons cubicle behind me and asks them if they would like to date stamp all of the work that has been done by other associates on my team...I'm sitting here fuming thinking Okay I told you I NEED to move around if you expect me to get in any work done. It's like he's forcing me to stay in my seat and it's NOT helping...if anything it's making things worse. I'm trying my darnest to stay focused, but I'm just having issues with it today...it's frustrating me to no end that I can't just do my job...I just wish they could understand...

Does your boss know you have ADHD?

Yes he does, which is why I told him I was having issues with being able to concentrate staying in my seat all day today. It's actualyl been the past couple of days, but I was trying to tough it out because I'm just not the complaining type. I'm still doing the same thing now I was doing when I first got here today, but I made another post in the Vyvanse area seeing as that's what I take...I just took another dose and I"m going to call my psychiatrist on Monday and my insurance company to find out how him increasing my dosage is going to work considering I JUST refilled my script today...

Maybe an increase would work better for you. I sure hope your boss didn't do that out of spite, but it seems that way to me. But, I tend to read to far into things. Do you get scheduled breaks or can you take breaks as you need to? You are covered under the American Disabilities Act and while many hate to pull the ADA card, it is your right. You can request accomindations. Like more frequent breaks.

Can I really? I asked on a post earlier this week; it might have been yesterday. I told my boss the day that I found out I had adhd, but I dont think she's said anything to HR. I don't want to offend her by going over her head, but if she hasn't said anything I would like to...and get them documentation because shes never asked. Oh and these are two different bosses lol The woman is my actual supervisor..the man is what we call a team lead...he gives out all the work and tells you what you need to be doing. She's basically there for the big time issues not related to the workflow on the floor. As far as breaks I get 2-15 minute breaks and 1-30 minute lunch, which I normally end up taking with the rest of the smokers on my team.

Honestly, at first I thought the same thing you did, but thats just not chuck. He cares for everyone and tries to accomodate them in anyway he can. Maybe she had worse issues than I did and I was just being a selfish brat cause I didn't want to be sitting there doing the same thing over and over. Either way I didn't get too much work done today, but I know he'll cover me if it's an issue when I see my supervisor on monday. There was a point in my day where I pulled up an image out of the fax queue and it was an atty ltr demanding so much money in a certain amount of days otherwise they were going to sue my company for not acting in good faith. Of course I being the naturally curious I am just HAD to read ALLLLLL the notes from the claim rep...yeah so a document that should have taken me less than 30 seconds ended up taking me about 30 minutes...somethings are just more interesting...like pictures of grey matter spread across the highway from a Car Vs Motorcycle accident...yeah the car so won that one...he wasn't wearing his helmet...maybe next time he'll know better lol

Disclose to HR, I believe that is part of the ADA rules. You are not being a brat, you have rights too. I can take a break when I want, they do not keep track of them at work. We get an hour lunch and that is all that is in writing. I am one of the lucky ones I guess.

I didn't think ADD/ADHD was covered under ADA? Not that I knew much about the ADA anyway...
I don't know...I guess I'm more worried about the repercussions to me I guess...I'm not the type of person to create waves

I'd ask for task variety. For example, can you do the coffee runs (with a list LOL) or take stuff (memos) to other depts, to get some hallwalking.

Time to walk some hallways or stairwells or jog around the block may also help perk up your att'n.

For me, it's the constant singular task that is killer. And the sitting.

Trying to (a) vary tasks and (b) get moving physically, may help some.

Keep your eye out for tasks you can ask to do, to 'help switch it up', during the day.
