my 12 year old daughter started on focalin two months ago, sice school started, she now takes it everyday at 6.30am.at first she complained of mild headaches during the day,and stomaches.i also noticed she ate less, which is good, im worried about her being so heavy.she also seemed more motivated with things.but now ive noticed her eating more and being moody. ive asked her about it, she said that at noon, after she eats lunch, the med dont seem to work anymore.this is a med that is supposed to be taken only once a day, and she doesnt want to have to take a dose during school hours, any suggestions??

Well she might just either need a higher dose OR a 2nd dose at lunchtime OR a longer lasting med. Focalin XR has the same release profile that Ritalin LA has. These two meds give (1) instant release then the final release about 3-4 hours later. If you get 8 hours on these meds count yourself lucky but 5-6 is kinda normal because methlyphenidate based meds work fast and clear just as fast.
