Ok so Ive been finally diagnosed with Adhd-h and anxiety after a decade of hellish proportions but with that said and done I had a few questions about methylphenidate since my doc prescribed the generic brand to me. I was just wondering what anxiety levels rise to at a measley 10mg dose twice a day. Im on klonopin for my anxiety right now and I do know what powerful stimulants are like, however I still need some input, from experience, with appreciation. If someone could compare and contrast methyphenidate to caffeine that would be very helpful. Im not in the best physical shape though knowing medically my hearts fine I still feel the need to worry about what this stuff is gonna do to me. I just dont want to get full blown panic attacks. Can anyone relate to my situation? or explain the "rush" you get from ritalin

i have never gotten a rush from Ritalin, but I can say that if it does make you more anxious, either dexedrine or focalin may be more appropriate to help the ADHD, there is less peripheral stimulation from those (less on the body more CNS). Ritalin (methylphenidate) causes less anxiety than caffiene does in my experience.

When peopel say Rush, they mean Euphoric "high". e.g. what addicts are seeking
You are talking about an Anxiety situation or rush, which is an Unwanted Uncomfortable feeling.
Stimulates are known to exacerbate anxiety in people with anxiety problems. They are sympathetic nervous system stimulants! HTH :)
Maybe try Strattera? It is related to the serotonin family drugs which can help reduce anxiety LT

Caffeine works directly on adenosine, rather than dopamine or adrenalin (epinephrine). [However, it stimulates adrenalin and dopamine secondarily, via the Pituitary. Many chemicals are 'dirty' in that way; they stimulate more than just a singular type of receptor. Like dominos or "chemical cascades".]
Caffeine works by blocking adenosine from making us sleepy.

NB
Are you using Caffeine while taking Ritalin?
Some people cannot tolerate mixing them....

Thanks for the help guys. No I dont take caffeine at all. I was just looking for a crude comparison and physical side effects because I think Im pretty sensitive to it. Ill try it and let my doc know asap if I freak out. Im taking benzos so I shouldnt be worrying. I mean stuff can happen. Sudden death:faint: :D
