My doc has me on fast acting Ritalin taking 40mgs at one time and then another 40mg's 4 hours later.

It seems like i take 40mgs in the morning, and then i feel like i need to take a booster of 20mg after about and hour before i take the other 40 4 hours later.

Is anyone perscribed 60 mgs at once?

Your meds will wear off extra hard if you are on higher doses. Then he is adding greater and greater amounts?

What goes up must come down. The more drug you take per dose, the sleepier and more wiped you will be when it wears off. It's called REBOUND.

If it were me, I'd try _lowering_ the doses.

I personally know nothing about Ritalin and what typical doses normally are. That said, only your doctor should determine how much is safe. We don't know of your particular health circumstances. So even if someone's doctor prescribes him xxMg doesn't mean that his dose is safe for you :)

Chat it up with your doctor. He's there to provide optimal therapy.

Is anyone perscribed 60 mgs at once? Since Ritalin is so short acting, I would suggest talking with your doctor about going to three times a day. Is your second dose of 40mg lasting you four hours? How are your late afternoons and evenings? Here's one possibility- since your first dose is feeling weak, ask your doctor about going with three doses in a descending order: say 90mg /3 doses- start with 50mg am, 30mg second dose, and 10mg booster. Or 50/ 40/ 20. Or consider long acting. I hope these suggestions are helpful.

Remember your effective dose is the dose that works for you. Talk with your doctor and I wish you the best. Keep us updated.
