Hi, I'm a 22 year old male that has recently found out, due to what a friend recently told me, and what I've found on the internet, that I have ADD.

I'm going to go to a psychiatrist today to talk about it.

This is what I am going to give him (I typed this up this morning):
and sorry about the formatting problem and also I work in the pharmacy.
Inability to focus:<o></o>

In the workplace: difficulty remembering patient’s names, often having to recount medications due to

inattention, trouble remembering specific problems from earlier in the day that need to be taken care of

at later times, difficulty taking oral directions because mind is trying to focus on other tasks, forgetting to

clock out from work, been told by co-worker that I need to improve my memory

At school & studies: unable to follow along with oral lectures from instructor, procrastination when it

It comes to completing assignments and studying for tests, difficulty staying focused when it comes to

reading school material – often have to reread pages multiple times, becomes easily bored with reading

and studying – mind always jumps to more captivating thoughts, trouble remembering teachers/students

names, been in college for over 5 years and still not at junior level – because classes are spread over many

major changes and class retakes, difficulty getting organized

Impulsive behavior:

Financial impulsiveness, bought a large HDTV – spur of moment purchase, never saves money, extreme

intolerance of boredom – gets bored very easily, was extremely bored one Saturday night – drove to an

Oklahoma casino alone within a few minutes of coming up with the idea and lost a few hundred dollars,

driving back from OK – pushed van to over 100mph and had a tire blowout on the highway, always

impulsive to go out with a friend when they call me even though I should be studying – due to hate of

boredom I think

Other:<o></o>

Spontaneous reckless driving, multiple traffic citations for dangerous driving including speeding and illegal

lane change, procrastination that has lasted over 7 months to fix Mustang, often leaving the car head

lights on – needed jumpstart for dead battery, locked keys in car twice this year, room always messy and

disorganized, trouble getting organized

Emotional: <o></o>

Can become overly self-conscious, low self-esteem, often stressed out due to procrastination, becomes

somewhat depressed when thinking about underachievement when compared to friends/others my age

---------------

I am hoping that I can get some kind of help today. I know what works for me, but I am going to hold my tongue and not tell my psychiatrist that I have tried Adderall and Ritalin before (friends) and I think they both work for me whenever I used it a long time ago for studying. What I really need is something to help me focus to get me through with school.

Sounds a lot like me. I am 22 as well. I hope all goes well..if you ever have any questions or anything feel free to PM me. Since we are the same age there could be a few things I might be able to help you with or vice versa.

good luck

I had to pay $40 for the co-pay and filled out some paper work. I talked to the psychiatrist for about 2 hours. Told her everything on my mind and she asked me a ton of questions. No bloodwork or anything taken. They just took my blood pressure (which was slightly high) and weight/height. I was diagnosed as mild ADHD-inattentive. They ended up starting me with Strattera. 40mg for the first 3 days then 80mg thereafter. With insurance it was $25 for #60 - 40mg capsules. I have another appointment with her in 2 weeks. I will see how this medicine works, if not, they said we could discuss other medication options. I'll let ya'll know how it goes. Thanks for your comments.
