Our secure password manager doesn't store your master password, it just uses it to encrypt your stuff, so there is no way to hack it to find your master password. When you use the Vortex Password Manager, it will attempt to open the file with whatever password you give it, but only the one you specified originally will be able to decrypt your data. It can also be set to challenge you for your master password each time you try and access account information, or only when you first open the application. That way, you can leave it open and still be secure if you forget to close it when you wander off to lunch.

If you forget your master password, "thanks for playing", because you will have to start over. There is no possible way to recover the master password, or to open the file without it. Therefore, we suggest putting your master password in a safe-deposit box just in case you end your shark-taming career earlier than expected. Maelstrom has not sacrificed security by adding a back door for password recovery, so there is nothing we can do if you lose your master password.

Only if it hasn't been already installed in the past. If you don't know, then you can try it without doing so, and the program will inform you if it's not installed. Since it's a .NET application, it will need the .NET runtime in order to run.

I installed the Microsoft net framework once before on a different computer and it seemed to slow down the puter, yet it didn't show me anything that this framework was doing..

I have no idea what it is or why it is needed and have never seen any info on it

would love a quick tutorial of what it is all about if anyone knows where to find one....

MS .net framework is the basis to microsoft's newer software. That is their answer to java.

Another awesome password tool is SplashID.

http://splashdata.com/splashid/index.asp

Works on windows, mac, palm, blackberry, windows smartphones. Built in blowfish encryption and is rock solid. Been using it for a couple years now to store all kinds of personal information.

def agree w adhdlolwut keepass.info is excellent in many respects. it's open source (actually an advantage even w a password program, interestingly), easy to use, small program.
