I recently went to a psychologist who is an ADD specialist. Or at least that was what I was lead to believe. I wanted to get more concrete evidence of ADD. The counsellor did memory, cognitive and itelligence testing.
I was not instructed to refrain from medication that day and by the time I realized I had the appointment that day I had already taken medication for the afternoon.
Testing showed normal results as in no ADD. However, the DSM four results were overwhelming. ( I already knew this as I had taken those tests on my own.)
I also know I have had significant breakthroughs since taking the medication as far as accomplishing goals, focus, emotional stability, forgetfulness and overall well being.
Should this counsellor have instructed me to not take the drugs that day to get a more accurate reading?
