It's an American tradition about the pilgrams landing at Pilmouth Rock and making friends with the American Indians. They all got together for "Thanksgiving dinner" as a sign of friendship. It's also a day when we take note of all we are Thankful for and is customarily celebrated on the next to last Thursday in November and yes Tracy in recent years it does sort of kick off the upcoming Christmas holiday in there is a lighting of Christmas trees in different parts of the USA and people begin their Christmas shopping the next day.With both holidays there is usually enough homemade food to feed an army! :D :D :D

Not to get too far off topic, but OMG never go out of your house on black friday... Made that mistake 2 years ago, this lady almost killed me at Target just cause I looked at her Shopping cart funny.
