View Full Version : Hard to wake up?
blueyeyore 11-13-07, 11:00 PM I was wondering if anyone else has this issue. Once I go to bed at night I don't want to get up the next day. Like last night..I went to bed around midnightish my alarm went off at 9am. I hit the snooze button until 10:30am, then I still didn't want to get up.
I was wondering if it was related to taking stimulants as well...
i take adderall xr. i can wake up fine. my problem is getting ready and going for the day. i have to sit around for a while---1-2 hours. really sucks and drives my husband insane.
You probably need to reset your internal clock. Limit light after 8-9 and most probably you will go to sleep. TV/computer screen is telling your body its day time. Darkness starts the release of bed time hormones. Wake up with light, same reason.
blueyeyore 11-13-07, 11:13 PM eh..I take Vyvanse 70mg in the morning. LOL not only do I not want to get up, but then I"m like you...I have to sit around for a while before things start flowing like they should. Luckily for me I don't have a husband or kids, so there is no one to really complain about my sitting around. I dunno no matter how much or how little sleep I get...I do not want to wake up. Here I was hoping I could blame it on stimulants lol...I've set 2 alarms for tomorrow and even moved my alarm clock from arms each, so I actually have to get up to turn the thing off.
Something has to work besides fear of getting fired from being late one too many times for work.
blueyeyore 11-13-07, 11:15 PM Limit light after 8-9? Sorry, I don't even get off work until 9pm...by time I get home and do my regular chatting and stuff on the internet I don't go to bed until about midnight. I don't have an issue with getting to sleep...I have an issue waking up.

Ok, here is an easy to read site or two or four.

It could be as simple as changing the time you get up, or using a light to wake up. In the end, getting up has a lot to do with going to sleep.
set your cell phone alarm clock
you actually have to think and stuff to turn them off usually --not just sleep walk over and hit a button on a clock.
put one on the other side of the room.
set them all a minute apart--after you get up 3 times to hit buttons you'll be annoyed and ready to get up
Oh how I hate waking up... let me count the ways.
Sleeping in makes up for the days when you must wake up early.
I love the feeling of just lying there and daydreaming... Ahhh :)
Yea - I have two alarms ... the first is quiet - the second screams throughout the house. At this point - I'm too scared to fall back asleep after the quiet one. :)
blueyeyore 11-14-07, 09:32 AM That's what I was using and I set it right beside the bed...I knew exactly what buttons to hit to make it shut up for 10 minutes. So, last night I had my two alarms. The loud one was set to go off at 9...and the cell phone for 930, just incase the other power went out and the other one didn't work (I'm real paranoid about that). Anyway, it took 4 minutes of listening to the alarm, before I remembered this is the one that doesn't shut up...it could go all day long. I got up...didn't seem to have as much of an issue getting up this morning, but I only slept for 6 hours. I didn't go to bed until 3am, but I know that's because I took a second dose of my Vyvanse yesterday to get me through the second half of the day.
LOL @ laying on the bed and daydreaming...I wish I could, but if I lay on the bed I'm gonna sleep...which means I"m going to be dead to the world. It's sad actually there are times a pin drop could wake me, but most of the time a tornado could go by my room, rip the window out, suck everything out the window minus the bed and I'd still be sound asleep. Maybe I might roll over during something like that, but never actually wake up.

bandie08 11-14-07, 11:19 AM YES...try adding being a high school student to the equation. waking up+High School=Miss school bus
maori_boy 11-14-07, 11:44 AM i cant ever bloody sleep lol,. i wish i could go without eating and sleeping they both annoy me and take up time lol.

do u go to sleep late?
Honeybunnie8 11-14-07, 02:19 PM I have always had a hard time waking up in the morning. My mom use to carry me in the living room and shove food in front of me when I was little...I was late almost everyday anyway.
My hubbys alarm goes off at 6:00am and mine goes off at 6:40, I dont get up untill 7:00-7:10, so I guess I get an hour to wake up.
I have a hard time getting up in the morning most of the time. The stims (dex) keeps me up at night so I know it is because I am not getting enough rest. My doctor gave me Seroquel 25mg to take at night so I can go to sleep earlier but I hate taking it because it makes me feel like a zombie the next day. Just can't win.
HighFunctioning 11-14-07, 10:35 PM I suspect that many ADDers have such altered circadian rhythms. I know for me, it probably has something to do with the transition from "boring" work to the more interesting things that I do after work. It's hard sometimes for me to quit what I'm doing at night (researching, programming, or other pseudo-random activities), so I think that affects what time I get to bed.
blueyeyore 11-14-07, 10:39 PM Funny thing is...I never had the issue of not wanting to wake up any of my schooling. There were days I got up at 4:30am just to be ready by 6:30am for the bus in high school...my hair had to be perfect lolYES...try adding being a high school student to the equation. waking up+High School=Miss school bus
HighFunctioning - Yeah, I"m kind of like that...I have issues getting to the bed...once I'm there I'm gone, but it's getting there lol
Actually, I've been looking over my journal and it seems the more sleep I get the harder it is for me to wake up. It looks like if I'm sleeping more than 6 hours it's too much.
marytza 11-15-07, 12:40 PM i have the same problem but i love to sleep not a morning person either
