The doc put my son on a slow release ritalin one pill a day.. started on 10 mg now on 15mg... I dont really want to put him on anything stronger but now getting notes from the teacher saying he is having trouble concentrating agian.. and following instructions.. seems out of it she says  He was on 20 mg before of ritalin 2 pills a day.. not slow release and the rebound affect was too much... I dont see the doc for 90 days now.. yes i do have a bit more additude from him.. he is arguementive.. etc.. but I can deal with it.. although its hard at times with 2 other kids here and one due in 6 weeks... I just do not want him to struggle but really dont want to up the dose.. what are your kids on for mg and how are they acting ?

My daughter takes 36mg of Concerta, which is the slow-release methylphenidate (ritalin). She tried 37m and it wasn't enough so we went back to 36mg.

Dosage goes by the severity of symptoms as well as weight. My daughter had moderate symptoms (no hyperactivity) and weighs about 120 lbs.

Hope that helps.

Personally, I don't like Ritalin SR. The SR form (from what I've read) is so unpredictable and the medications effect can even vary from pill to pill. My recommendation would be to see the doctor and see if you can switch to a better form of Ritalin such as Ritalin LA or Concerta.
