My family is loaded with undiagnosed ADHD, I am the only one in my family that is medicated. Imagine the fun we have when seven adult ADHD'ers and their ADHD children all get togethers. Thanksgiving was so stressful that I am still trying recuperate and I got back yesterday.

I have banned the word "holiday" from being used by my partner to describe going somewhere en famille we've never been before and don't know anybody.
It is not a holiday.....it is a hard unforgiving hell......and sorry girls but thats the opinion of many dads (voiced away from the hearing of women), ADD or not.
Its probably different in the states...but in Europe it's usual to go to another country for at least 2 weeks a year, often 3.
This means the head of the household is responsible for the safety and happiness of the family in an alien environment where he may not understand the language, they drive maniacally on the wrong side of the road, and its often seriously hot with consequent sunburn issues. Plus the food is different and regardless of how the parents want to enjoy a different cuisine the kids play up by wanting what they know.
Holidays.... urrrrrrgh despite work being hellish sometimes holidays are worse.
Yeah holidays may be easier for the wife....because the husband's around and she can dump responsibility and decisionmaking on him......."for a change"
As for getting together with other family members....
