Has anyone switched from dex to adderall? I was just recently started on dex..my first med ever and its making me tired. A co-worker of mine takes adderall and says that she never feels this way on it...I feel like with my first dose I get a nice energy boost and then after that its all sort of downhill with my energy levels? Anyone have any experience with this? I'm going back to my dr. next week and was interested in possibly switching meds.

I was on Adderall then switched to Dex. After a couple of weeks, I went back. I though the Adderall wasn't working. That is until I tried the dex. Then I realized how good the Adderall was afterall. The dex sedated me and made me feel like I was foggy and tired all the time. I also ate more on the dex. Some have had good results with dex, I didn't. All I can say is you will have to give it a try on your own for each person will react differently to each med.

I felt tired when starting Adderall, but it was definitely temporary. I think you will find it gives you the energy boost you want at the proper dosage. Some people feel like Adderall and Dex are practically the same, others (like me) can hardly believe they are so similar.

My experience for its worth.
Adderall PRO: better for fast energy and symptom control, as well as motivation.
Adderall CON: I had a very serious outlook, with not as much laughter in my life. Strong body effects combined with anxiety.

Dex PRO: Gentle on my body, easy to laugh, no anxiety.
Dex CON: I had to stick with it a couple of weeks before I was certain it was working. Overall symptom control not as good as Adderall. Slow to kick in and shorter lasting.

These can be tough comparisons and decisions, so we keep trying. Just me personally, but in my short stim history I have liked to stay with a med until I have found the optimal dose and effect. Then I change if I need to. If for whatever reason I need to go back to the original medicine, I have this information available instantly and don't have to search for it again.
Good luck.
