Hi,

I started using Adderall XR yesterday. It helped me immense, although I only took 5mg.

Today I started with 10mg in the morning and I was productive as never before. However, at 8pm I started to get very strong headaches and I felt nauseous. I felt the same yesterday. Are these normal side effects? Did anybody have similar side effects and did they vanish over time?

Welcome to ADDF, I have never had those specific rebound effects but it is different for everyone. Maybe you shoul look into getting a 5 mg tablet for the evening to help with that. The best advice I have is to ask your doctor.

The side effects got stronger today, so I talked to my psychiatrist. He suggested that I lower the dose again to 5mg in the morning. He thought that I might have high blood pressure, but I got it measured today and it is fine.

I will see him again next Tuesday. I might switch medication then.

For me, a higher dose decreased the end-of-day crash. My blood pressure also decreased since I've started taking meds (Strattera + Adderall XR), which I assume is because they greatly reduced my stress/anxiety.

By the way, it's very easy to forget or delay eating/hydrating while on Adderall. This amplifies the end of day crash.

I too am pretty new to Adderall. Since starting the meds I have found that no more and no less than 40mg is a perfect amount for me. I'm a 135 pound female. I take the full 20 mg pill first thing in the morning and then I break the next 20mg pill apart and mix it with food and water throughout the day,as recommended by my doctor only after he checked my liver and blood presure. I only only do this before 3:00 because then I cant sleep. It does keep me feeling consistent until 10-11 when i like to go to bed. Two nights ago I did wake up feeling naucious and dry heaved for a few minutes, but it hasnt happened since. It could have been that I took my birth control too close together, which often makes me naucious. I would give it some time and I think it should level off, but 10 mg is a pretty low dose and depending on the severity of your ADD you may need to up it.

I was on 15mg and couldn't stand the tinnitus. I went back to 10mg, and I feel more nauseated than with the 15mg. It's quite odd really.

I get some irritability specially if I've been off of it for a few days (as was the case over thanksgiving break)

so my tinnitus and nausea are pretty bad right now, but I'm also pretty hungry so I'm not sure if that's causing it.

I find sometimes I feel better if I pee...strange I know, but it's almost like Adderall gets me so focused that I don't really notice my body telling me I'm hungry or need to go potty. hmnmmm I know I have to, but it doesn't nag me or bother me. I have to bring that into focus and think: do I have to pee, oh yeah, look my bladder feels full. whereas without the pill, i'd be doing the "potty dance"

not quite sure if this makes sense to anyone

The side effects will differ from person to person. Sounds like you have quite a reaction. For me, I had the headaches but they went away after using the Adderall for a week or so.

The side effects went down. On the weekend I did not feel any side effects anymore! My body seem to be more used to the drug now.

Often when I felt nausea, I was also unconsciously surpressing hunger. I try to listen better to my body now.
