I've been on Adderall for about two months now. I am up to 40mg a day and it seems to be a good amount...keeps me consistent through the day and gets me to sleep at a decent time too. The past two days i have had this aching in it seems like my back but could be my chest. Its most painful when I take a deep breath and sometimes I cant even take a deep breath. My right arm seems to be a little week too. I dont want to be an alarmist so I am trying not to think too much into it. I also am not overweight and I have normal blood pressure. I took advil and it seems to help a little. Anyone ever have this symptom?

Yeah, don't be an alarmist because that always makes everything worse especially if its about your heart. Trust me, there's nothing like an all-night panic about your slightly elevated heart rate (the panic speeds it of course, irony). I don't have that symptom but most websites say you should go to the doctor for that kind of thing. Could be anything, you know? If you're familiar with heart burn, it really hurts your back and it feels like its your heart but its not really its your esophogous. It wouldn't cause breathing issues I don't think though. Just talk to the doc. Describe the problem to whoever is on the phone right away and then go in to the appointment whenever they want you.

Could be nothing but better safe than sorry.

yeah, I have this feeling that this is not the adderall. I used to have troubles taking deep breaths even before I took it, so I am not quick to blame it on the adderall. I also have always had infrequent sharp pains in my chest, even before I went on the med. I know infrequent pains in your chest are normal. My boyfriend gets them too. I have a feeling it is heartburn because I keep feeling like I have the need to burp and when I do it is all acid, sorry gross I know. I just took Mylanta so we will see if that helps. It has just sparked my attention because I have never had that strong of a pain in my back from heartburn. I just wanted to see if anyone has any kind of chest pain/tightness symptom from Adderall, or if it ever gives them heartburn. I have an interview today so I'm hoping it goes away!!

I've seen some places where Adderall causes some side effects including stomach problems. How frequently does this happen? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?

well it just happened last night through today. I believe it is heartburn now, since I just took Mylanta and it helped tremendously. yay. I think the Adderall just increases my heartburn symptoms. Luckily I dont get it very much. The only other side effect I get from it is a little bit of loss of appetite and ringing in the ears in the morning. I'm hoping the ringing in the ears goes away.

Zantac usually works best for me. If it keeps up, you may want to try prilosec. It stays in your system longer (but takes up to 4 days to work I think).

When I was taking adderall (between 30 and 45 mg a day), a few months in I started getting daily what felt like back muscle aches and chest pain on the left side, and the feeling that I couldn't "complete" a deep breath. This would last for days and then subside and then come back. I was paranoid it was the adderall and that somehow I might have had a preexisting heart condition I didn't know about. All kinds of panicked thoughts were running through my head.

Turned out I had a viscious case of GERD. I've had some heartburn in the past, but nothing terrible, so I didn't know what it was. The pain in my left chest almost felt like a stinging or burning sometimes, and it freaked me out. My doctor didn't say for sure, but I think Adderall might have made my existing acid reflux worse somehow. I can't find much info in this though, so I don't know if it's something that other poeple have complained of on Adderall.

I also had costochondritis (an inflammation of the chest wall) that was causing the breathing problem and soreness. I have fibromyalgia and this is quite common for people with fibro, but, again, I think the adderall made it worse than it would be becuase adderall can cause muscles to tighten, etc.

Anyway, you should get it checked out. Even if it is "just" heartburn, if left untreated it can cause problems. Good luck!

Does it go away when you stop the Stimulants?

And just because mylanta worked doesn't necessarily mean it's GERD (although that's the more likely explanation). It could be an ulcer or something else.

im not going to take my dose tomorrow to see if it may be related. I just really hate not taking it.

Having back or chest pain may not be related to Adderall at all. stop taking Adderall if you want, just to eliminate this possability, but my guess is that it may have something to do with your bed and how you sleep.

Adderall may be blamed for a lot of things but it is my working hypothesis that such things would ocur anyway. It just may be that Adderall can cause us to "hyperfocus" on conditions that we may already have.
