For the past few weeks I've been taking two Adderall XR 15mg capsules daily (well, on workdays, which is Monday-Thursday for me). 1st dose at 6:15 AM and 2nd dose around 1-1:30 PM. It's worked wonders for my inattentive ADHD! It's been giving me all day coverage- I work four 10hr days, plus I need a few hours of after-work coverage as well. But...I'm unable to fall asleep before midnight and I have to get up at 5:30 AM and need at least 7hrs sleep to function.

My p-doc switched me to Vyvanse 30mg, said to take one between 7-8 AM and I should get a full 12 hours of coverage. He said that the 30mg Vyvanse should be comparable in strength the the two 15mg Adderall XRs w/o the insomnia- as I have to go to bed by 10:30pm during the week :-(. Adderall XR gives me 6 hours of effective coverage, but that 2nd dose still keeps me up at night, and one am dose doesn't help me in the pm.

A couple questions for others in a similar situation:

1) Do you actually get 12 full hours of coverage?

2) Is Vyvanse equivalent, mg to mg, to Adderall XR, in your experience?

There is the possibility of upping it to 50mg if the 30mg isn't effective, but I'm hoping the 30mg will do the trick. Minus the insomnia, Adderall XR was nothing short of a miracle for my inattentive ADHD and many "Sluggish Cognitive Tempo" (the definition of SCT, while not 'official', fits me to a tee) symptoms, and I'm hoping tto get the same productivity/motivation/focus/energy I got with Adderall.

No, but everybody's different.
Is Vyvanse equivalent, mg to mg, to Adderall XR, in your experience?No...here are rough dose conversions.

Vyvanse 30 mg = Adderall XR 10 mg
Vyvanse 50 mg = Adderall XR 20 mg
Vyvanse 70 mg = Adderall XR 30 mg
You're doc was right to start you at 30mg, but according to the info above you will likely need to titrate up to get the effects you were getting w/ Adderall. Vyvanse is a completely different drug than Adderall and you will likely prefer one over the other. For me, Vyvanse has been calm and smooth whereas w/ Adderall I felt like a multi-tasking machine. This was okay for me, but not what I need at this point in my life.

For me, my coverage depends mainly one what time of the month it is and what time I took it.

I take 70mg about 10-11am every day. I work from 12:45pm - 9pm; for the most part it will last me until about 10pm - midnight. It seems if I drink caffine later in the day it keeps me up a lot longer than normal.

I've only been on the 70mg for about a month now, but when I started I was on 50mg. It took from late Sept to Early Nov for me to notice, but there was a big difference is how long it used to last and how long it was lasting. Again, it varied by day...somedays it would last 8 hours and others I'd count my pills cuase I could swear I forgot to take it...even my coworkers were noticing again.

As far as comparing it to Adderall and dosing...I'm sorry, but I can't help you there. Vyvanse is the only medicine I've ever taken for adhd, but from what I see around the boards...it looks right...

I hope this works better for you!

No...here are rough dose conversions.

Vyvanse 30 mg = Adderall XR 10 mg
Vyvanse 50 mg = Adderall XR 20 mg
Vyvanse 70 mg = Adderall XR 30 mg
I just switched from Adderall XR 30 mg to Vyvance 50 mg, and noticed better effects: am able to concentrate better, organization is better, hyperactivity has decreased, well just about everything is better, so far.
