For the past few weeks I've been taking two Adderall XR 15mg capsules daily (well, on workdays, which is Monday-Thursday for me). 1st dose at 6:15 AM and 2nd dose around 1-1:30 PM. It's worked wonders for my inattentive ADHD! It's been giving me all day coverage- I work four 10hr days, plus I need a few hours of after-work coverage as well. But...I'm unable to fall asleep before midnight and I have to get up at 5:30 AM and need at least 7hrs sleep to function.
My p-doc switched me to Vyvanse 30mg, said to take one between 7-8 AM and I should get a full 12 hours of coverage. He said that the 30mg Vyvanse should be comparable in strength the the two 15mg Adderall XRs w/o the insomnia- as I have to go to bed by 10:30pm during the week :-(. Adderall XR gives me 6 hours of effective coverage, but that 2nd dose still keeps me up at night, and one am dose doesn't help me in the pm.
A couple questions for others in a similar situation:
1) Do you actually get 12 full hours of coverage?
2) Is Vyvanse equivalent, mg to mg, to Adderall XR, in your experience?
There is the possibility of upping it to 50mg if the 30mg isn't effective, but I'm hoping the 30mg will do the trick. Minus the insomnia, Adderall XR was nothing short of a miracle for my inattentive ADHD and many "Sluggish Cognitive Tempo" (the definition of SCT, while not 'official', fits me to a tee) symptoms, and I'm hoping tto get the same productivity/motivation/focus/energy I got with Adderall.
