I have been taking Adderall for a few years but stoped over the summer and just recently started taking it again. I am 5'10'' and was 148lbs, not skinny but not fat. After trying concerta and now going back to Adderall for a few weeks, I have very little apetite. I currently weight 125lbs and continue to lose about a pound every two days. This really scares me because I am really trying to eat more but it still isnt helping. I have lost nearly 25 lbs on this drug over a one month period, Im sure that is really bad for me :( . What's odd is that when I took it before I did not have weight loss problems so why do I have these problems now?
I can't stop taking Adderall right now because finals are next week, but I would like to figure this out as soon as possible. Does anyone have suggestions? Also, I am more anxious these days, could that contribute to weight loss?

Certainly the adderall will make you more anxious and that can definitely contribute to weight loss. I just got back on adderall after being off of it for about 6 months because I lost so much weight. I have found that taking a holiday from the medication helps with the weight loss (which you might be able to do after your finals are over) and drinking/eating high protein foods (like, I would get a protein booster in a smoothie while I studied or eat power bars or drink instant breakfast with whole milk...). I just tried to put myself on the high calorie diet my brothers were on when they were too skinny in high school :). Stay hydrated and find something you can snack on throughout the day. I think adderall makes you forget to eat–and maybe it speeds up your metabolism. Good luck!

I wish I had this problem on Adderall.

Interesting post since I can relate. I wouldn't recommend going on and off of Adderall to maintain a consistent weight. Gaining and losing weight isn't good for your heart, or your metabolism. I am the queen of gaining and losing like 15 to 20 pounds at a time in like three weeks and it drives my mom ( a nurse ) nuts. I am a female, 5'4'' in my mid twenties and am naturally not overweight(Except for the two seperate times I was on SSRI's) She would not be happy with me being on Adderall so I am trying to keep my weight consistent so she doesn't begin to wonder and ask me all sorts of questions. I get hungry on Adderall but I dont like to eat, so I try to listen to my body as much as possible. What I have done is put myself on a diet of sorts, where I have made a schedule of eating. With Adderall, if I miss the timing of lunch, then I will just wait for dinner to eat, whereas when i wasn't on it I would eat a small lunch as soon as I could and then eat dinner. Having the schedule makes me remember to eat. I use my cell phone alarm for a lot of things I need to do during the day too..maybe you could set your phone to remind you that its lunch time, for example. Good luck!
