View Full Version : Aspirin?

I get headaches, a lot.

Aspirin has always been the best way to alleviate my headaches; but I am now concerned to take it as regularly as I do in combination with adderall. For one, I have basically stopped eating. I force myself to eat at least a piece of toast with a glass of milk twice a day, but if my boyfriend doesn't come over and make dinner for us, that is all I will usually eat in a given day (I know, this is bad, but he stays at least 5 nights/week). I'm still relatively new to adderall, so I'm assuming the appetite loss will progressively decline.

Also, I take my XR out of the capsule (sometimes with applesauce) but most of the time with water only. (I do this because I prefer taking 10mg during the week and 30mg during the weekend of which I get substantial studying done).

Additionally, gastric ulcers run in my family. Not to mention I have had GI upset for the past week.

How can I change my habits enough to feel safer taking aspirin as regularly as I do? Is it even safe to combine the two considering my administration techniques?

I know I need to change my eating habits, but right now the thought of eating anything more than a little piece of bread makes me nauseous. What other "little" foods will provide me with better protection but still be a small meal?

Short-term, pb&j on whole wheat with milk crams a lot of nutrients into a small meal. Long-term, the best I can think of is a vitamin supplement, but that's a pain because of all the possible interactions with Adderall.

My appetite totally disappeared at first, to the point that I was disgusted by food. I didn't have to think about it too hard though, because within ten days or so it returned to just about normal. So maybe it will pass. Do you notice a difference during the week when you take less?

Tylenol is easier on the stomach then asprine. If that doesn't work you could try excedrin back and body(it has no caffiene).

Prilosec OTC is amazing for stomach problems.

If your have to take somthing for headaches more then 3 days a week talk to your doctor about it.

During the week, the amount I take is purely to keep me from becoming narcoleptic. My school days are long, most are 8 hours of lecture straight, on Wednesday I have an 11.5 hour day straight of lecture. The dose keeps me from having the rebound drowsiness of withdrawal... but when I do start to get tired, I'll drink a small cup of coffee. That usually seems to rev up the alert effects of the adderall. I love it, because when I take my entire doses on the weekend, I'm a machine for learning and studying.

And I have seen my doctor about my headaches. She put me on migraine prophylaxis which actually worsened the headaches (therefore concluding I suffer from tension headaches; of which she recommended OTC).

Finally, I went to the ready care last weekend for my stomach problems. They prescribed me Bentyl (an old treatment for IBS) and phenergen (anti-nausea). Neither work.

I know, I'm probably slowing killing myself. But since grad school started, my health has come second on my priority list.
