he was on 10 mg twice a day for months. then on 10 mg slow release once a day.. he hasnt been on it for 2 days now... Ya he has hyperness, he is loud even shouts what he is saying instead of talking, annoys ppl, etc... but i cant stand him being on a drug.. i dont know what to do. he did occasionally say his tummy hurt but when i got him home from school he was fine.. he has anxiety too which could be from not concentrating..etc.. I am so frusterated.. I have him on essetial fatty acids now alternative meds.. and trying to cut out crap from his diet.. I am  as to what to do is it safe to take him off.. I go see the doc on the 18th so in 9 days.. really dont want him on this but dont want trouble either.. grrrrrrrr

It's your decision and no one here is going to make you feel bad for putting your child on medication, taking him off, or deciding to medicate at all. :)

I know for us, my husband was wary of medication at first, and we tried other things to no avail. Once we found the right medication and dosage he's really changed his tune. For us it was the right thing to do. If it isn't for you that's OK.

if you're using EFA's to treat him, you might want to consider lovaza (formerly omacor) i got my psych to prescribe that. it has 475 mg EPA and 325 DHA per capsule...far mor ethan anythin else out there. and insurance covers it.

i wouldnt feel too bad about medication, maybe you should discuss other options.

i've been using L-tyrosine and EFA's to treat myeslf for the past 2 months after being on ritalin, i didnt like the idea of ritalin either, but once in a while (like today) i used it
