I am getting these weird emotional urges to connect in a more meaningful way with people in my family and other close people. I usually kept them at a distance because the smallest things irritated me about them or I could not pay attention to them. I hope I have explained this right.

These urges tend to peak a couple hours after taking Ritalin and then subside.

i have noticed this too, actually. I wonder though if it is not feeling clear so that your priorities come up.

For me, about one hour after ritalin, I can get emotionally open in a good way.

This happens to me as well as you describe, around the time of peak plasma concentrations, about 2 hours into the dose. I get teary sometimes over not a whole hell of a lot. A sad scene in a movie, or because I'm happy. This is a common side effect of Ritalin though, according to the pharmacists.

oh god i hope this doesnt happen to me...im about to start ritalin and already i cant stay dry eyed at any "movie moment" happy or sad.

don't worry yet. from my experience, concerta actually helped me level out my emotions a great deal.
