This has always been an issue for me during the periods that I take Ritalin (I alternate between Ritalin and Dexedrine AND have done this for years).

I am also on Klonipin but unless I take it by itself I still don't sleep.

Anyone understand?

I take 72 mg of concerta and take 20 mg of Ritalin 3 times a day after for the rebound.

The rebound is what keeps me awake, if I do get to sleep I wake up when the Ritalin wears off.

It is a good drug better than Adderall.

Lol, you know I can't sleep too while I'm on ritalin.

Pretty good. I want to sleep but I can't. Stupid Ritalin, now I don't even feel the same effect as in the first doses but I still can't sleep.

Yeah that happens the initial, whammo and then the even out period but the lack of sleep can drive one nuts after awhile

Dose is probably too high. That amount of Ritalin would keep just about anyone up!

I used to take more when I was 4, that isn't too much and once I adjust to it I will be fine takes a couple of weeks

Wow. what dose were you on when you were 4?

Another thing you could try is take the last dose a bit earlier. I was taking my last dose of Ritalin at 3pm and it was making it hard to fall asleep. I cut it back to 1pm and now I can sleep fine :)

As another rapid cycler myself, I understand your dilemma.

Not sure if this works as well with ritalin, but I just started taking magnesium 2x day with my dex and wow is this drug more specifically effective now. I would take 15-20mg 3-4x/day and it would work ok and I would never sleep.

The magnesium has made it so I can take 15-20mg once in when I get up and then only like 5mg the other times, and it seems to be massively effective. And the cracky, ampy, sleepless, strung-out side effects like gut rot and massive dehydration have all but gone away. Do try this.

I can get no sleep on methylphenidate. Sometimes I use doxylamine but it sucks because of its extreme long half life.

I have to run for an hour EVERY DAY to fal asleep at night. Its ridiculous, but the running also helps for the crash

I can not sleep without medication. I also take klonopin(4mg) along with an antidepressant (elavil), if I miss a dose sleep is out of the question. I have tried going without these "sleep aids" but I couldn't fall asleep. In my case no single OTC sleep aid is strong enough to make me sleep. I take 40mg X 3.
