Ok, this is probably a dumb question. I've had caffeine crashes before, so you would think I know what a crash feels like. <O:p</O:p

I just started 20mgs of Adderall XR. I took my first pill around 2pm yesterday. I felt absolutely wonderful except for the nasty headache in the evening. I had maybe 5 hours of sleep, I'm assuming from taking the medication so late. Anyhow today I took my pill around 7:30am, felt calm and productive - it's now 12:50ish and I want to crawl in a hole and sleep. I have absolutely no desire to do anything. I'm so tired I can't concentrate. Is this what the crash feels like? Is it normal to crash in 5 hours on XR? <O:p

I would appreciate any advice you can give! :o <O:p</O:p

For some people a higher dose in the AM helps, for others, A noon dose helps ask your doctor to help you

I think when you first start, you're body's still adjusting to the med and most people will have ups and downs, in mood and energy levels. It'll be quite unpredictable at least for the first week, how you will feel, since your body's still adjusting.
I wouldn't make changes to the dosage for at least a week, and then if certain symptoms persist, like being tired, then the drug can be adjusted accordingly.
Maybe instead of XR, you can take 2 IR's, or one XR in the am, then a IR booster in the afternoon. If an XR is taken late afternoon, it can interfere with sleep.
Best of luck to you.

according to the psyciatric protocol of titration, it should occur every three days with stimulants until optimal results are achieved.

I don't think it's especially NORMAL to crash on 5 hrs of XR, but I definitely have had that experience. For some reason I just metabolize Adderall XR really quickly. I start feeling depressed and lethargic after about five to six hours, seven at the most.

If I take it later in the day it definitely will affect my sleep to the point where I feel terrible the next day, so that could be what's going on for you, too.
