I was diagnosed and put on 5 mg twice a day. It worked fine and the doctor kept changing doses until i got to 30 mg xr morning and 10mg xr in the afternoon.

now the problem is i have been getting up really late in the mornings (10:30 - 12:00) range. I then take the XR before i jump into the shower and skip the 10mg dose or take it before 2:00 p.m

When i take the 30 mg at 10 or 11 i start getting this weird feeling that is different. pretty much i try to read things too fast and nothing goes into my head. I then get anxious that the drug is not working or i developed tolerance, However something is different and i feel it, when i try to do a particular problem i seem to read through it really fast and i then have to reread it again and again. I also seem to be a little jittery and i've been sweating a lot.

This makes me anxious as i have a test coming up. Also i've been drinking a lot of water but sometimes my muscles are sooo tense i need to get a massage just to loosen up. My psych is really bad ( I have never laster in his office for more than 15 mins as he finishes up the session really fast) It was a psychologist who diagnosed me and the psychiatrist prescribes the medication.

I have good success with the 5mg doses in the beginning, I'm going to change my psychiatrist but i would appreciate your opinion whether i should lower my dosage.

Wow, Kesh. I am glad you are changing psychiatrists. This person does sound terrible to me. If the 5 mgs were working well for you there is no reason your doc should have kept increasing the dosage. Yikes! It sounds like you definitely need to take a lower dosage and see a psychiatrist that actually listens to you. Good luck!

Welcome to the forums kesh84.

I would suggest that you contact your phsychologist, and explain this to him/her, and you might also want to call your pharmacist and ask them what they think about everything you described.

Please keep us posted on how things unfold on that end.

If 30mg XT makes you jittery and your muscles tense, and you have been on that dose for at least several weeks, my experience is that is too high a dose for you.

I have always had those symptoms the first few days on a new higher dose, but then my body adjusts and I can see the actual effect on my ADD.

I would ask your dr. if you can step down the dose, and start backing up, or ask if it's better to start over at 5mg and see if that still works for you.

Yes, if you were fine before and don't feel good/aren't functioning well now, there is no reason for you to be on this dose. I would ask to go back to the low dose and titrate up as needed over the course of a few weeks/months to find your ideal dose.
