Well, Been in Florida for 3 days on christmas vacation, came down to see my Dad. Decided against bringing my meds because I didn't want to chance having them stolen during the flight or something, so today is day 3 off meds after almost 2 weeks of being on Vyvanse.

BIIIIIIIIIIIIIG difference without meds, I've noticed. I mean night and day, especially in terms of motivation / focus. Been waking up late, having trouble finding all of my stuff in the morning/afternoon/whenever (Had an hour treasure hunt for my wallet, which incidentally I had left on the balcony for whatever reason hahaha...) Extremely indecisive about everything, Dad will suggest something for us to do, and I'll say yes to all of them, but as soon as we get there, get extremely bored and start wandering off somewhere else :D

Almost got into 2 wrecks trying to drive on I-95, once I got distracted reading bumper stickers, kept driving too fast to keep up with the car and swerved into the shoulder almost hitting the median. Second time: Fumbling with the radio while trying to open a powerade and light a cigarette at the same time as making a turn onto the exit. Almost ran off into the grass, lol. Nice little adrenaline rush, but god....

Fun times, but I'm amazed, noticing myself doing these things, how much the medication is ACTUALLY helping me...

Those first days are not fun and absolutely no good, but different than just your normal self. It'll get better.

Sounds like me when I am off of my meds, the treasure hunts and being an hour late are just great, huh?

You can take your medication with you on a plane and keep it with your carry on. How can it be stolen if it's with you? Medication is the exception to the rules. Medications do not have to be fit into the 1 quart baggie of personal liquids and gels, like shampoo or hair gel. lol. You just have to let them know it's your medication and you need to keep it with you.

Vacation does not mean your health problems go away. My dad made the mistake one year to not take his anti-depressants when we went on vacation to Disney (can't remember which one...). He figured at the happiest place on earth he wouldn't need his meds. The difference in his behavior was night and day. At first we couldn't figure out what was wrong, but by day 2 or 3 we finally asked if he had been taking his meds and he told us he didn't bring them... me and my mom both hit our respective hand to our respective forehead, then I called him a dork. lol.Now we make sure he takes all his pills on vacation.

A.D.D. does not go away just because you're on vacation. If you needed glasses to see, you wouldn't leave your glasses behind would you? Same concept, you need your A.D.D. meds whether you're at work, at home, on vacation... A.D.D. doesn't go on vacation just because you are.

Yeah, maybe I was just being a bit paranoid, I left my anti-depressants in my carry on, I knew that nobody would really want to rip off some of my Prozac hahaha. I dunno, still weirded out by the whole "scheduled drug" concept and to top it off with our lovely TSA buddies. *shudders* Had enough trouble trying to keep myself from having a panic attack at the airport without having to worry about carrying around a "drug". But it does have my name and my doctor's name on it (the bottle), so I guess I shouldn't worry next time. I mean, I read that part on TSA's website, but I guess it didn't 100% register in my mind that if I show them it's my prescription, it's completely fine.

Funny analogy, Makes sense in a lot of ways. I don't know what my reasoning really was when I decided to not take my meds with me, guess I thought that since I was on vacation, I didn't /need/ to be able to focus, as that's what I guess the primary improvement I have noticed about myself has been... Guess I haven't noticed exactly how much it has actually helped me lately in other less noticeable aspects.

Ever since that vacation with my dad off his anti depressants, me and my mom always make sure ALL his meds are packed even if he says no! LoL. Then we make sure he takes them while on vacation. lol. We're going on vacation at the end of January and we'll be sure he has ALL his meds with him. My mom has her medication she has to take with her because it's life or death if she doesn't take it... Once I have a new A.D.D. medication I'll be taking it with me. lol.

Dude, if they let me on the plane with the freakin' pharmacy I hafta haul around, a few Vyvanse would definitely be no problem. Lol.

It's interesting to be reminded how much different your meds make though, isn't it? I prefer meds that I can't "feel" at all so I don't realize just how much they help until I don't take them for a while. Lost my Lamictal and Zyrtec D for a month or two recently and lordy, I was a snotty depressed mess! Reminded me how much I appreciate my meds though.

Last week I went without my dex on Friday and even that one day made me realize how much of a difference it was making already. Didn't take it again until Monday and by Sunday afternoon I was so scattered and unquenchably bored I could hardly stand it. I just laid in the bed and felt grumpy.
