Hello All! I am pretty new to this forum and im just starting to look into wheather or not I want to try medication for my ADD. My Question is how much of a difference does medication make towards skills like being able to hold a long conversation without spacing out or even following short conversations and adding to them better? Because right now I am a very quite guy not because I am shy I just cant socalize well, I think am thinking of other things rather then how I can contribute to a conversation.

Everyone is different chadbanford & the meds work differently for each person.
I know the medication helps my son tremendously.
He is a lot more outgoing.
Good luck to you!

chad I cannot answer that question as everyone is different and respond's differently to meds. I would speak to your doctor about this issue and see if he has any suggestion's and I do wish you the very best. Good Luck!!!!

Chad,
Welcome and what the other said is very good advice. I too was very quiet socially. I did not know I had ADD at that time. It may be a part of your personality. Counseling could be something that can really help you in that area.

chad, did you ever think it was partly their fault? I mean maybe you are just in situations with boring people. I know about inattention as a symptom of ADHD and all, but I find that engaging more interesting people helps, perhaps some with a common hobby or interest. You will find plenty of mentally stimulating folks here! Welcome!
