What do you take, and in what dose? I take a generic version of Dexedrine at the moment. My individual dose is 20mg taken 3 times per day usually.




How often do you take it?As needed, which equates to me taking it during the week for school or for work.




How long have you been taking it? I have been taking one prescription stimulant or another since Feb of nineteen ninety two. I am not sure exactly how long I have been taking Dexedrine since I usually switch up every so often and try another stimulant to keep things fresh. However, if I had to guess I would say that all together I have been on Dexedrine (or a generic version of it) for at least 10 years.




Do you ever take "drug holidays" from it? If so, how and why? Yes, often. I usually take a break on the weekends, and sometimes during the week if my schedule allows. That being said, I have also gone months without ever taking a break too.




How well has it maintained its effectiveness over time? Quite well actually, however I think that without the "drug holidays" as you put it that it would not have been able to remain as effective as it has for me.

I don't take drug holidays because of the withdrawal effects I experience. Even if I didn't have withdrawal effects, I still wouldn't take a 'holiday' from my medication.

So far my medication has been very effective for me.

How often do you take it?
I take it as needed, rather than on a daily basis. I probably take 20mgs 2x a week, maybe 3. it all depends on how many meetings I have to sit through. My daily work is very active, it fits in quite nicely w/ my ADHD. When I really have to pay attention (and am often sitting for longer than 30-45 minutes) that's when I take adderall. (btw - my doc is ok w/ this).
(when I was in school - 1999-2000 and this last go 'round, 2005-2006 - I took the full prescribed dosages)

I suppose I take them quite often - but it's only because I take Adderall as needed rather than on a daily basis.

wonderfully well!! When I started on Adderall, I eased my way from 5 to 10mgs 2 to 3 times per day - depending on my class schedule (to get adjusted w/ the med and have as little side effects as possible). Then, around 2000, I went to 20 mgs AM, 10mgs at 12p. In 2001, I went to 20mgs 2x per day and have been there ever since!

hmmm . . . i really like Adderall IR. I feel like I have more control over it. Also, since I don't need a longer acting med, IR works just fine for me.

I take generic Dexedrine. I'm still titrating and am currently at 7.5mg 2x daily with a third dose of 5 or 7.5 as needed. I'll be experiemnting with 10mg doses after Christmas.

Previously, I was on Adderall. I took 5-10mg as needed for class, homework, tests, etc.

I take dex on weekdays.

How long have you been taking it?
Just a few weeks. I took Adderall on and off (more off than on) since I was diagnosed around March or April or 2006 then decided to give dex a shot a few weeks ago. So far I'm quite happy with it.

Do you ever take "drug holidays" from it? If so, how and why?
I don't take it on the weekends because I don't need it as much and I like to be able to occasionally enjoy things containing caffeine, citric acid, and alcohol, all of shich I avoid during the week.

How well has it maintained its effectiveness over time?
I'm still titrating up so this doesn't really apply to me.
