Now alot of people want to know if you can combine these 2 safely. Im one of them. Because methylphenidate lowers gaba and serotonin, gaba directly and serotonin indirectly (because of the artificially raised dopamine). Adding a ssri of some sorts could correct alot of methylphenidate's adverse side effects, such as irritation, anger, depression.

There's alot of difference in st johns worth brands, some are standarized on hyperforin, while others on hypericin. Hyperforin mainly works on serotonin and gaba while hypericin mainly works on dopamine. So you want an extract standarized on high concentrations of hyperforin.

The second issue is that st johns worth seems to diminish the effects of allot of medication. St johns worth only seems to affect the CYP-450 liver enzymes, in particular with substrates of CYP 3A4.

Methylphenidate is not stated in the list of medications not to be used with st johns worth. But I cant find how methylphenidate is metabolized, by wich enzyme that is. Can anybody help me out here?

Now this is what I found:

St. John's Wort Extract Induces CYP3A and CYP2E1 in the Swiss Webster Mouse.

http://toxsci.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/66/1/27

Methylphenidate inhibits cytochrome CYP450 in the Swiss Webster mouse
Hepatic, methylphenidate is metabolized primarily by de-esterification to ritalinic acid (α-phenyl-2-piperidine acetic acid, PPAA.

So my conclusion?

St johnsworth raises lvls of cyp450 while methylphenidate lowers lvls of cyp450. LOLLER

So this could mean you achieve a kind of equilibirum by this combo? And I have nothing to worry?

Probably to good to be tru, im getting tired of this.. its to damn complicated. Il just be a guinnie pig then. Wish me luck

And I have nothing to worry? Good question. I would suggest that you talk to a Dr.

Wish me luck Sorry, but I don't believe in luck anymore. I know better now. Luck is what happens when opportunity meets preparedness.

PS I hope that you will keep us updated on how things unfold on that end.
