hi all...i really need some advice on how to take dex.

i feel that it works...but here in australia we can only take 30mg/day unless we have a second opinion from a second impartial pdoc. (this is probably what will have to happen in my case but im not certain that it has to).

i have now made it to this dosage..combined over 2 intakes..am and noon.

ive tried 4 and 2, 3 and 3 (5mg tabs), 1 and 1, 2 and 1, 3 and 1.5 etc etc.

everytime the result is the same.

the first dosage works for about 3 hours then i have this very sleepy- like a sledgehammer sleepy period and then the next dose brings me out of it for about an hour before it returns as an even more powerful force.

i then have to sleep..mid afternoon for about 2 hours. then wakeup feeling pretty tired - but unable to sleep..for the rest of the day and until the next morning about 2am before i can go to sleep again (all the while my body WANTS to sleep but i lie in bed and just cant fall asleep).

im thinking that 4 and 2 and 3 and 3 5mg tabs just isnt enough as i weigh 130kg. i think the most anyone can get in australia is 12 x 5mg tabs per day...not sure.

im not even sure that ive had a day where ive experienced this working "properly" for me so that i can function for a whole day yet.

id love some advice on this as im certain the tiredness has nothing to do with me burning extra energy as although when the dex works i am more talkative, comfortable and tolerant, i actually find it harder to switch from tasks now (rather than jumping from task to task like before) so find myself sitting in one place for much longer and actually using less physical energy than i used to.

i wrote a intro post in the adult ADD section called "boy im glad i found this place"..with some more background.

if someone can give me some advice and perhaps work through what might be going on with me thatd be great.

maybe i should be having 3 doses/day?

i really just dont know what to do now..especially on 30mg max per day.

Cheers,
Tim
