I realize there are a lot of updates and changes going on and maybe I'm being silly~but where are the Fonts, Sizes, Color choices and the missing Smilies? Thanks for any explanations. :D :D :D

If you click on the POST REPLY button at the bottom of a thread, you'll be taken to the Advanced Editor (where you'll find the fonts and other formatting features available).

If you don't see this, please check your User Control Panel, under your options, in the Miscellaneous Options, you should see an option called "Message Editor Interface". Select the one you want and go :)

Where are you experiencing these problems? In the Reply to thread window? Selecting the text and using the following keyboard shortcuts should work:

CTRL-X = Cut
CTRL-C = Copy

Yes, there are some smilies missing. Now sure we'll be able to get those back :( But maybe some new ones on the way instead (cross your fingers).

As for the font formatting...are you telling me that when you highlight your text in the Reply to Thread editing box and click on the FONTS pull down, you can't change your fonts?

If you wish to add style, fonts or colors to your posts when using the Quick Reply box at the bottom of a thread, click the "GO ADVANCED" button underneath the box. You should find all the style controls there.

Also, if you just click the POST REPLY button or QUOTE buttons, you should have those options as well.

Please let us know if that's not the case...and what browser (and version) you're using.

Options are still not working and how do I find out what browser my computer uses?

In the browser you're in, go to the HELP menu, and select the ABOUT option....then reply to this thread with the information you see there (i.e. Firefox 2.0.0.1.1, Internet Explorer 6)

Please check your browser settings and make sure that ENABLE JAVASCRIPT is checked/enabled.

My computer has Internet Explorer Version 5 and from what I've gathered- unless I'm wrong about it Please tell me if I am -is that this version does not allow enabling of Javascript. I also am unable to click on the available emoticons.

How do I enable Javascript in IE5?

1. Click on "Tools" on the tool bar, then choose "Internet Option".
2. Choose the "Security" Tab.
3. In the white window, select the "Internet" with the picture of the globe.
4. Click on the button marked "Custom Level".
5. Scroll down to "Scripting" and enable "Active Scripting".
6. Click on OK and then OK again on the next window to apply the changes

Hi was wondering if spam filters could be causing my current problems with the font size and color options. also was wondering if anyone else is having problems with this?The drop down boxes on the afore mentioned are blank and still inoperable. :(

I can confirm that some of the emoticons are not showing up. It seems that some of the emoticon image links may have been broken during the upgrade.

Are you accustomed to using the editor where when you select a font or color, that those changes are applied directly for you to see, like this, or do they show up like [​b][​u][​color="red"]this[​/color][​/u][​/b]

I'm familiar with both methods but on this forum I was used to the drop down choices with the scroll bars using enhanced interface. I can't even click on the B I U or the available Smilies in post reply nor quick reply. Are any other posters having problems with this or is this some problem with my computer? Had no problems prior to updates. I'm not computer savvy but am learning albeit slowly! :D This Smilie came from my keyboard.

The forum controls rely on javascript. Perhaps updating your version of Java would help.

Another thing:

Certain forum functionality, when using Internet Explorer, *may* require ActiveX to also be enabled. I am not sure how such instances are handled (if non-AJAX methods are still being used). I don't think this has anything to do with the particular issue (it would affect the "Quick Reply" action though).

Note: none of the above applies to Mozilla/Firefox, which supports the technology in a different manner.

Enabling Active X for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0

1. Click Tools then Internet Options.

Actually, it IS just point and click. Just go to www.java.com, and click on the download button (I think its green in color).

hmmm . .. not really sure. I right clicked on the picture and copied the image location and put it into the "main" customize background pic, but it didn't work. Perhaps someone who knows pic stuff better than I can pop in to help out :)

That is correct. It should not be on the desktop.

You are seeing those icons correctly. The A's with the red X is the Remove Formatting. The Red X refers the Remove part of their action.

Unfortunately I'm still unable to use any of the formatting tools. :(

Something else to check.

At the bottom of the web browser window (to the right), there should be an icon and some text after it. Normally, that is a globe (the earth), and the text "Internet". If it's something else (such as Local intranet, Trusted sites, or Restricted sites), then the action that you took before to enable JavaScript would not have any effect.

Unfortunately I'm still unable to use any of the formatting tools. :(

Using a different browser would help. I'm not sure if the editor is supposed to be compatible with Internet explorer 5 or not.

Other web browsers include Mozilla Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com), Opera (http://www.opera.com), and Internet Explorer 6 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1e1550cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&displaylang=en).

Internet Explorer 6 should work on operating systems as far back as Windows 98. Firefox will also run on systems all the way back to Windows 98. I'm not sure about Opera.

Once you've uploaded the picture for your background into your ADDForums album, right click the image and copy the URL (link) of the image. Paste that into the appropriate space in your profile customization.

I do believe the image needs to be located in your forum photo album.
