Saturday night I took 3500MG of Neurontin. Literally woke up on Sunday and within a couple of hours my whole thought process had changed. I can't remember ever being so positive and optimistic.
I have had major depression for the past year and a half. Diagnosed with ADD. I have taken Zoloft and Adderal with little change in depression. However Sunday I felt better than I have in a long time. Is this possible or was this just some crazy fluke? I am looking to get some more to try it again.
Thanks Matt
3500 mg of neurontin is insanely high for a single dose.
I used to take 300 mg 3X a day.... I temporarilly doubled that to a total of 1800 mg per day
to treat my tinnitis (it helped a bit).
You might want to read the fact sheet for neurontin and check out the dosing suggestions. They usually suggest taking several small doses over the day as opposed to one big dose due to the very short half life of neurontin....also there is a max dose where the effectiveness of it decreases if you increase the dose further.
I've never heard of anyone noting an improvement in depression due to taking neurontin. If it works that way for you I guess that is good.

actually neurontin is used as a mood stabilizer for bipolar disorder and i agree you should check with a professional on the amounts. large doses can cause a variety of side effects, but i take up to 2,400 mg daily but they are divided into seperate doses four times daily. speak to your mental health care giver and let them know maybe they can figure out a workable option, the reason mine is high is i take it for bipolar and to block the pain receptors in my head so i dont hurt so badly from two herniated discs in my neck... hope this helps a little.:)
