Heres some background info-

-Diagnosed w/ ADD in August 2007 at the age of 21
-Struggled through elementary, middle and high school
-Organization was not an issue it was retaining information
-Knew I had ADD early on no tx was started
-Went to college with the intent of becoming a h.s history teacher but ended up at the fire academy
-After fire school went to medic school where all my problems came to the for front

-Medic school is med school crammed into 9 months. I studied every single day, did everything I was suppose and still was doing AWFUL on my tests. I have a passion for the fire/ems service and was interested in all the information I was receiving but couldn't retain it. I was devastated

-Had a meltdown with my mom when she decided to send me to a therapist then psychologist then finally psychiatrist
-Was prescribed 50 mg vyvanse

Pros of vyvanse:
- vyvanse starting working an hour after my first dose
-grades improved within days of taking vyvanse
-my ability to pay attention improved noticeably
-I could retain information that I was unable to retain before
-I had more energy and was able to finish multiple tasks

Cons of vyvanse:
-tweaking: if I start a task soon after my medicine kicks in I sometimes focus on one tasks for hours. I can sit on my computer and just tweak on the most insignificant things
-before I was taking vyvanse I weighed 165 lbs. mind you Im an athletic 5'10 female. It is now January of 2008 and I weigh 130 lbs. I don't feel any different but my appetite is a bit suppressed.
-If I know im going to have a long day (24 hrs at the firehouse) sometimes I will take 100mg instead of 50mg.

Im happy with the decision I made to start taking vyvanse and I recommend this treatment.

Have you noticed or had any problems with aggressive behavior or anger issues?

How long were you on it for you to lose that much weight?

If weight loss is a huge problem you can try dexedrine. As each dose wears off you should be able to eat, but its more hassle then taking 1 pill a day.

I definately noticed a difference in my aggressive behavior. I'm a "type A" person anyway but when I was on the 60mg, by the end of the week I felt like I was going to turn into the Hulk. Anger would just crawl up my arms and back, I would get really short with people. I just couldn't handle anything. I drop down to the 30mg and was able to "deal" with things much better.

I also noted the weight loss piece as well. My favorite side effect. Unfortunately, it wore off.

Can you tell me, do you take the 100mg all at once?

My teen daughter cannot handle more than 60mg at a time (anger/aggressive side effects, etc.), but this dose does not last long enough for her, and we have been wondering about her trying it twice a day, at either the 30mg or 50mg levels...

Anyone with experience twice a day?

whoah sorry everyone for the absence of my answers to your questions.
-To the teen daughter question,no i would not take 100mg all at once. I would take one when I woke up and the other maybe around 4pm. Mind you I was at the firehouse where on most nights sleep was not an option and I would be awake and alert all night bc of the meds.

-Yes I have experienced aggression problems and they are very noticeable bc prior to going on the medication I had very very very minimal aggression and anger issues.

-I started taking my medication in August of 2007 and noticed an extreme weight loss by September. I will tell you that I was put on adderal for a month bc of insurance problems and gained 10lbs in that one month.

WIERD! I have such a passion for becoming a nurse and love learning it and everything about it but dont do well on tests and have trouble retaining the information...i really need some first hand experience and time to focus on the subject to learn it but then i will really understand it..i dont know if its the test taking or what..i know i am a smart person but i feel like my ADD has gotten worse since i was first diagnosed in highschool ( i will be 22 in August)
I was on adderall but couldnt stand the crash...i was put on vyvanse and the concentration wasnt as great but it was a smooth day ...i would take more to increase attention span...that resulted in sleeplessness but at night im a waitress at a restaraunt/bar and dont usually get home till 2am anyways

I went from 150 lbs to 120 lbs in like 4 months the last time i went to the the doctor he told me i had lost another 5 lbs since the last month and he just put me on focalin..i feel myself gaining weight again and im back to a crash and headaches.

i want to go back to the vyvanse at a more regulated rate..
