My insurance won't cover meds for any disorder in the dsm. Also, I do not qualify for any prescription assistance program. So, I need to find a cheap ADHD med. Which med(s) are the cheapest for ADHD? How much do they cost a month?( I realize cost will be different for everyone b/c of pharmacy, location, etc. I just want an estimation) Thanks for any help.

I don't know about all the meds but I got a 30 day supple of generic Ritalin for like 30 bucks. Other generic brands I assume would be about the same. But I don't know because i haven't gotten them.

CLONIDINE 0.1MG TABLET
CLONIDINE 0.2MG TABLET

Clonidine is on Walmart's $4/month plan. Though thats a non-stimulant primarly usefull for treating hyperactivity.

While my suggestion isn't helpful (and perhaps harmful), I self medicated with caffeine for at least 8 years. Moutain Dew, Jolt Cola, Red Bull... anything with loads of caffeine. It got the point I was popping caffeine pills everyday. My friends knew I was an addict... lol. I could easily down a whole 2 liter of MD in 2 hours. used to buy 12 packs and be done by day 2... while popping pills.

It's a dirty stimulant, but it helped me when I took more than I was tolerant to.

I like the generic Ritalin suggested above... I'd try that.

I would think a generic amphetamine (i.e. some form of Dexedrine) would probably be less than $30 a month.

This website helped me save a little bit of money getting my monthly meds:

I use the Pharmacy Reward Card at Albertson's pharmacy and I pay $24 each month for dextroamphetamine (10mg x 90 tablets).

Without the Card, the same prescription at Wal-Mart costs about $36.

This should soon be on the 4.00 generic at Walmat/Sam's Club. But right now:

Methylin 20mg ER - basically generic of Metadate ER.

Sam's Club - (30) 20mg tabs is $9.14
(120) 20mg tabs is $32.74.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. gh342000, I am actually on Methlylin ER right now. However, I am paying $35.00 for it. Only paying $9.14 would be awesome. There is a Sam's Club where I live but I didn't know that it had a pharmacy. I will have to do some calling and see if it does.

Also, do you have a Costco nearby? I just got a quote from them for (120 pills) 20mg for 43.00. My insurance has changed to an HSA so I am shopping around for the best price.
