View Full Version : Choice of a med other than Ritalin

On Friday I would see the results of my re-diagnosis in the US, and given past experience in this hospital that they would let me name a medication (They offered me Rx since they thought I sounded like AD/HD, but I declined until further evaluation, which was done in December).

Insurance has same coverage for all ADHD meds ($7/25%, whatever greater).

Previously (in HK) I tried brand Ritalin IR 15mg bid and not very effective.

So, what kind of meds should I name? Or just let them name one for me?

Thanks a lot!

Try dextroamphetamine (brand name Dexedrine, Dexostat), seems to be the other med with the highest approval rating for side effects and effectiveness, I'm going to ask for it at the end of this month.

I would ask for either Focalin, Dexedrine, or Desoxyn.

I found each of those three to be very effective, and also to have fewer side effects than Ritalin.

We each can respond differently to these things, so what's best for one person might not be best for another.

I hope that whatever you try next works better for you.

Please keep us posted on how things unfold.

or Desoxyn

Haha, I'll never have the balls to ask for prescription meth. And I know I'll never get it because the Ritalin does help quite a bit as it is, I've said that, so there's no "reason" to try it.

To OP, if you really have a choice though try Desoxyn, it will help for sure, lol. Seriously, all my research says it has the least "rebound" "crash" "come down" etc of any ADHD med.
