View Full Version : How quick or your reflexes?

Wondering because I seem to have slow reflexes (well, I guess 'average' but slower than the people who responded and sometimes slow on other tests) and I wonder if it's ADHD related. Maybe it would be just the opposite in people with ADHD, I dunno. I'm just thinking that lack of dopamine could do that.
~boots~ 01-16-08, 08:54 AM average :-)
~boots~ 01-16-08, 10:00 AM remind me to try again tomorrow :-) when I'm not melting into a puddle on the keybaord
~boots~ 01-16-08, 10:27 AM Sure! Thank you Tracy.cool..
that test is hard when the mouse slips right out of your hand..
slippery little sucker :D
busyhermit 01-16-08, 10:57 AM Interesting. The test said average, but I know I have slow reflexes. I'll give you the first example that comes to mind - - I'm driving, and there's a dead deer in the road. Plenty of time to swerve around it if a person were quick, but what do I do? Run right over it! Brain was still registering... "Hmm, what is that? A dead deer in the road?" and BUMP. Ran over a mattress in the road once, too.
On the one hand, I think it could have to do with brain chemistry - since I'm very depressive and inactive, makes sense I'd have slow reflexes.
But on the other hand, sometimes I wonder if it's a "thinking" problem, too. The fear of doing the wrong thing makes me think and rethink myself into a feedback loop - which leads to inability to make a decision and I freeze. "What should I do? Can I make it over it? Should I swerve? Do I have time?"..............BUMP.
Actually - - maybe the fact that I'm thinking instead of doing means that I don't HAVE reflexes! :D

nnooooo....you are thinking super quick..
here's what really happened
"wow..there is a deer on the road...wow..it's already dead...and if I swerve to miss it (pointless really..since it's DEAD) I may as well run right over it...or I may kill myself and my passengers..to save a dead deer.."
now..that is quick thinking ..all in less than half a second...
yah..go ADHD:p
and the moral is
NEVER SWERVE OFF THE ROAD TO SAVE A DEER WHEN YOU MAY KILL YOUSELF AND YOUR PASSENGERS :D
busyhermit 01-16-08, 11:06 AM Thank you, Tracy - you're absolutely right. I feel much better!

Honeybunnie8 01-16-08, 11:56 AM This is what it said: Your average reaction time was 0.672 seconds. Are you drunk or what?
Its morning and I'm sick...so I might as well be drunk.
DeloresMelon 01-16-08, 12:03 PM didn't do the test, but as a mother, I at times have lightning quick reflexes. lol
although that day my daughter investigated the electrical outlet, I wasn't nearly as full of lightning as she was...
Mine was 0.8 seconds - very good reflexes.
As to swerving to avoid a dead deer - just stop, save the gas, re-use deer for dinner!

HighFunctioning 01-16-08, 10:10 PM I've hit quite a few deer. Few of them have done measurable damage to my vehicles, fortunately. Some deer have even hit me on occasion. Steel bumpers (or perhaps, anything stronger than plastic) are good things. :)
I scored below average on the test. I'm not shocked.
