Hello,
I have been diagnosed with ADD and GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). I would like to know if anyone here has this combination of disorders, and what type of meds you are taking for them. I am thinking of suggesting adderall and buspar if I have a choice.
Can anyone shed light on a combination of drugs that have been effective for you?

I was dx'd with GAD/PTSD/DES-NOS.

I found Adderall WAY too sympathetically activating to the nervous system and this can be disturbing to Anxiety Disordered folks.

Fast heartrate, sweats, seriously increased alertness (can feel like the hypervigilance or racing thoughts of anxiety).

Dexedrine reduced my Anxiety greatly. Treating the ADD (organizational stress, etc) really helped reduce my anxiety.

ADD and Anxiety Disorders are highly correlated.

It is also known that Anxiety causes attentional, working memory and learning issues. Particularly, the hippocampus and frontal cortex dysfunction are affected due to the actions of CORTISOL.

A lot of anxiety/attentional research has been done on Combat Vets.

You can find more info on this if you look for articles by B. Van Der Kolk. He is a top Anxiety (trauma) researcher at Harvard.
