My doctor seems to like the use of the IR tablets of drugs because you can better test a response and if it works, then she switches over to the XR/ER version of the tablets. Does anyone else's doctor do this? I like how she does that...

My Dr likes them both. He sees that some people are better at fine tuning their dose than others, and the IR certainlly allow people a better chance to do that. In contrast, some have trouble remembering to take another dose, so for them the extended release medications are best.

I have always preferred the IR myself, but I have tried many different extended release product over the years just make sure I was not missing out on something better for me.

I'm not sure if my doctor actually likes them or not, but both my Adderall and Dexedrine

are IR. Ive simply explained to him how extended releases conflict my schedule, and how

immediate release allows me to better manage my medication based upon my needs at

the time.
